Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whats your thoughts on this sort of wrapper??
Are they good or much problems with them??

We are thinking of buying a second-hand cheap wrapper for wrapping our own bales with a budget of €2000-€3000 and are just wondering what sort of wrapper would be the best? All help apreicated!

We just got one of those Tanco wrappers last week. Haven't used it yet but have given it a good going over and it seems to me to be a decent machine. Tanco wouldn;t have the best reputation but it depends what you want your wrapper to do for you. If you're just doing a few hundred at home then a cheaper wrapper like that Tanco should be fine (But if anyone has horror stories about them let me know!!) whereas if you're going contracting you're going to want something better. As I've said i've never used one of the Tancos but have a lot of experience with the McHale 991. McHale make top quality machines but they're more expensive than the Tanco.

In terms of what goes wrong, there's not much: shear bolt on the drive to the rollers is fairly common and very easy to change. Roll pin in the gear box is a bit trickier to change but not really that big a job. Just need to watch out for general hydraulics then, hoses, rams, etc. The Tanco setup is a bit different to the McHale but the same would apply I reckon. Haven't used the electric cut and tie on it yet but i've heard they're a bit finicky. The accumulator on the Tanco's ramp may need to be re-pressurised from time to time as well.

Don't overlook Connor Wrappers either. We have 8000 bales on ours and never had to put a part in it - no cracks or weldind done on it either.

The older Mchale wrappers were feckers for cracking the arm.

When we were buying the wrapper, the Tanco was more expensive than the Connor!

Thanks for all the help it mite be better to go and get a mchale so as ther alot better and stronger!! we would have about 500 bales per year and we would do some of the neibhours as wel so it would be better to have peace of mind when wrapping!! Thanks again reilig, vincenzolorenzo, daniel1994, lancerwall for your help!!

consider a static unit run on a donkey engine with a remote
you can wrap at the stack then and no/little damage.

Bought a second hand connor last year. good machine and the guys at connor are good if you have a problem. We needed to set it up for close centre hydraulics. They sent us the parts and talked us through the change over on the phone.

mchales 991 wrapper a great machine, connor not bad either but have heard its hard get parts after. like with all machines you get what you pay for. the cheapest might not really be the cheapest if soemthing goes wrong.
