Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

Interested in your thoughts on this brand from Germany and how the compare in quality to the likes of Blancpain, JL or IWC. I am interested in buy this style of watch
    http://www.limes-uhren.de/index_EN.php?site=inhalt-Pharo-VOLLCHR-EN
and Limes would be much more affordible verses the above high marketed brands.

or any suggestions on sourcing a similar style in above brands, maybe used other than ebay. collectors site etc.

    cheers.

Like most of the indy german brands limes are pretty well put together, however i dont think that they would stand up to comparison with any of the other co's listed to be fair.

also, you would want to be sure that you liked something like what you posted because resale value wouldnt be wonderful.

maurice lacroix have similar models and can normally be sourced with a decent discount off rrp

    this type of thing:

the masterpieces are well put together by all accounts

really?, think you have your winner then ;), only issue is that its hard to try something like that on in advance of a purchase

Nice looking watch. I'll be interested to read your verdict once you get it. When your paying this kind of money would you not be better to stick with Swiss over German? I honestly haven't considered a German watch before and would like to hear opinions on them.

I was somewhat on the same line of thought, however the Swiss equivalent is about 3 times more expensive, at least in the brands I've listed above. Yet as I understand it the quality of this German product is as good if not better*
Secondly I work with Germans, for a German company, so perhaps have been swayed?
However the order is not placed so if you can think of an alternative watch in the same style and rough price range I'd be open to looking at it.

    Thanks,
    Mtt

    * not watch specialist, so opinion is really subjective, or based on what I've picked up reading.

id have no qualms about going german, and have done in the past

plus its a little more under the radar

glashutte original are one of my favourite brands

you would get a lovely IWC XVI or similar for the same price

its not a similar looking watch tho, an iwc chrono will cost 5-6k
