    Title says it all.

So I went for my first run in about a year this morning, went a helluva lot better than expected, so I'm gonna keep it up and see where it takes me. Do a fair bit of cycling too, so thats probably what stood to me when I was running this morning.

    Stats:
    Male
    21 years old
    A whisper short of 6"4
    Weight 100kg.

    Shoes: Nike Pegasus 27.

I had been using an app on my iPhone to track my cycling, Runkeeper, so I'm using that at the moment to track my running.

    Details of my first run:

    6.43km in 40:14.
Had to stop and walk for a minute at 26:00 and two and a half minutes at 28:30 because of an awful cramp, just under my ribcage, but was fine after that.

Probably not up to scratch with the rest of ye, but I'm happy

Do you have any targets in mind?Marathon? 1/2 Mara etc?

Heh, it sounds weird to think that I could be aiming for a marathon, but I guess anything is possible.

ATM, i guess, my main aim is just general fitness and weight loss. Although, I suppose there's no harm in aiming to do a marathon :)

Was gonna take a rest day today, because I went out on the bike Wednesday and Thursday, but I figured I can rest when I'm dead (or tomorrow :P ), and went out for a run. Did the same route as my last one, although its apparently 20 metres longer this time :P.

No cramps or stops this time, it was much warmer day and I knocked a whopping 36 seconds off my time. At least its progress :)

On a side note, is it a fashion no no to run with a sweatband? My eyes stung like hell today from the sweat..

Went out again today, same route. Kinda disappointed because I felt like I was making good time, but ended up being slower than my last run. Then again, this is only my third attempt, so I have plenty of time to improve.

Definitely gonna get out a bit more this week, gonna aim for maybe 4 of the same route, and depending how I am feeling, have a bash of something a little longer.

So keeping that in mind, my goals for this week (or next week, dunno how realistic I am being), is to get the main route's average pace to 6:00/km or better, and up my max distance to ~8km.

Went out again today. Stopped for about a minute to try and avoid a particularly bad downpour, no idea why, as I still got absolutely soaked. Had the dog with me again today, Im not sure if he is up for it to be honest, maybe the rain is getting to him, but he was seriously lagging today.

Anyway, If i hadnt stopped i reckon I would have done a good bit better, as I was doing some good pace at the time. Looking at the km breakdowns, I started a little too fast, paid for it as I went on, then made great time on the last km, especially when you include the stop. Looks like it might dry up for the evening, so I might get out on the bike for a short while later.

My legs feel great, way better than they did when i started this last week anyway, so tomorrow/friday, definitely going to try and move up the distance, and attempt a fast 6k at the weekend. Weight myself in work on the big scales yesterday, came in at 99kg even. Only a 1kg loss in a about two weeks cycling and running. My diet has had a couple(read:an awful lot) of mishaps in that time though, so i'm not too worried :)

Went out for an LSR today. Except, really, it wasn't that long, and ended up being not too slow either (in comparison to my regular times).

I left it too late, and I was under pressure, so I did the first half slow realised the time and had to turn back, and seriously up the pace.. Quite happy with it overall though. No stitches, no stops, no walks(bar like 3 seconds when I needed to fix my iPhone)

Tried to redo the LSR yesterday. It was a little longer than the last one and an awful lot slower (probably too slow). I didn't feel out of breath for the entire thing, which is why it seems to me that I was going too slow.

At the end of the day I suppose, the most important thing to keep in mind, is that I actually got up and went out. Beats doing nothing.

Went out for a fast run this morning, had my girlfriend with me who is a more experienced runner.

Damn did she push me. We stopped halfway to catch breath and stretch, which accounts for the not so great time, but the kilometre splits (not including the stopped one) are really great (for me)

Overall, I was very happy, no major stitching and was in good condition too when I finished up. Went for a fast cycle in the afternoon too, very happy with how that went.

I had the same problem last year, wear glasses running, so needed wipers at times to see where I was going on warm days!!

Got over the fashion issue and now seem to be the only one in any race who wears a headband - but it works!!

Anyone embarrassed to run with me - go faster!
