Hi Bubblypink, sounds like you've had a pretty steep increase in long run mileage, specifically 16->20. I'm guessing you're not following a marathon plan? I'd go with another 20 mile run, but watch for tell-tale signs of injury, as your legs will be taking quite a battering.bubblypinky wrote: »Many thanks Krusty!!! I did 49miles total last week. Fieldsman: Not sure why you'd want to get a few more 20 mile runs in before the marathon. Next weekend should be your last long run before the typical 3 week taper. I'm guessing you're not following a plan either?
Next weekend (8th/9th) should be peak-mileage, followed by progressively shorter long runs (oxymoron?!) on subsequent weekends, for example 12 and 8 miles, as prescribed in Hal Higdon's marathon plans.0 -

Not following specific plan Krusty, my brother is a professional runner, and he has been giving me advice of what/when to run. You're right, to go from a 16mile to 20 is a steep increase. I was meant to do 18 today, but felt able for it so, going nice and slow, I was able to do the 20mile in 3:27. (my bro was still cross with me for jumping from 16 to 20miles tho!!!) 0

if so and u want ur family to b around for the start there will b loads of parking on Hatch St ( just off Harcourt St ) once they arrive at a reasonable time... Its a pay and display area but with it being a Bank Holiday it might b free tough not sure on that... Its a 10 min walk to the start ... They can hang around with u until just before the start and than maybe head to Stephens Green to view the masses go by ... Then its a case of coffee, a bit of shopping and a wander down Grafton St for a few hours before making their way to the finish line to c their hero power home

Bank Holiday Mondays are the same as Sundays so buses are very few and far between before 9 A.M. Taxi to near the start is your best option.

If you are staying in Fairview the dart would be a great option subject to timetable of course,,, I am pretty sure a colleague at work said they got the dart to Pearse street which is then an easy 5 min walk up Weston row to the start,,, a quick check on Irish rail and dart Sunday timetable is 9:21 am from Clontarf rd getting to Pearse at 9:29,,,,,, worth checking closer to date as there might be an earlier service for the marathon but I wouldn't hold my breath on it !subscriber wrote: »does anyone know what the story will be with road closures? will it be done in stages throughout the day or is the entire route closed from first thing in the morning.. just wondering from the point of view of family coming from galway on the morning of the event??
