Primary schools in London?

    Hi, everyone,

We are planning our move to UK over summer and I have to select new primary school for my child. I have seen few websites like Ofsted, Good School Guide, DFSC key results, but I'm still clueless how to choose best school. What ratings should I be looking at?

We will be living in Bow, London area.

Also - is there any state procedure to get into those schools or should I just go to them and hope they will take us in?

What is system for getting to secondary school after? Should we register for that as well?

    Thanks for any replies.

I think you will end up being put in a school where there is room for you.

Most schools are booked up years in advance..... people spend 100s of 1000s of pounds to get houses on the right streets to qualify for certain schools.

At this stage you need to start ringing schools directly I suspect.

Bow is in Tower Hamlets (council area) If you go to the Tower Hamlets council website (www.towerhamlets.gov.uk) and the education section it seems to have quite a lot of information on applying to schools.

The schools in England are inspected periodically by Ofsted so I think they will probably have copies of their reports on schools that they have inspected on their website.
