Just came across this fella couple of evenings ago, at first glance I thought it was a death coach beetle, but its not he has a smaller head, and more sections on the body... Any ideas???

Looks like a beetle larva, one of the Carabids i think.

I'd go along with that, and I think the smaller one in top pic is also a beetle larva
