So...the elephant is clearly visible in the room: an incompetent campaign organisation, a clumsily handled revolt from the floor, a plagiarized speech, a laughable deflection campaign, a coded Ted Cruz message to reject the Duck, a publicly announced intention to renege on the NATO treaty in certain circumstances...

I have never seen such a catalogue of idiocy from a main party and their candidate who aspires to the presidency.
Thanking your post just because of the "elephant and duck" references...Great name for a pub BTW :D Donalds face could smile down from the signboard outside.

But seriously, "incompetent"?? The Donald has wiped the floor with his competitors.

"Clumsily handled revolt" ?? It was the last whine of the "Never Trump" movement with their ridiculous proposal to "unbind delegates" ie allow them to change from the democratic mandate they were given. And organised by a few Texans who still support bad loser Ted Cruz.
Its the equivalent of a few anti-brexiteers calling for that referendum result to be ignored. Just as well they were decisively overuled by the GOP leadership.
Plagiarised speech, yes fair cop. But what politician (or spouse of one) writes their own speeches? The script writer owned up and apologised.
I'd say very few political speeches have truly original content these days anyway. Its all been said before; its just the same old trite rehashed in slightly different combinations.

Unless somebody shoots Trump after he becomes President. Which is not all that unlikely, seeing as "the haters who oppose what they see as the haters" have already made one attempt.

Crooked Hilary's campaign now showing up in Wikileaks.
The emails also reveal plotting within the DNC to embarrass Republican candidate Donald Trump, including drafting a fake ad to recruit "hot women" to work for him.
One email suggests that Senator Sanders be questioned on his faith, in the hope of revealing him as an atheist.
It reads: "Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist.

I'm not sure it belongs in this thread about right wingers, maybe a thread of it's own is needed. But in a country where socialism is a dirty word the ultimate slur against a socialist is to suggest that he might be an atheist.

It appears to be the Democrats week to f*ck themselves in the face.

Curious. All Signs Point to Russia Being Behind the DNC Hack, and 'Guccifer 2.0' Is Likely a Russian Government Attempt To Cover Up Their Own Hack

A foreign government trying to affect the outcome of the US election? That's pretty worrying.

If true, it would be "unorthodox". But then our own Enda Kenny visited the UK just before the Brexit referendum in an attempt to influence the result, so not exactly "unheard of".
    Either way there are two separate issues;
    a) the content of the e-mails and
    b) who leaked them and what authority they had.
If you think b) is more important than a), then maybe you are the kind of person who thinks Julian Assange is a criminal, and Wikileaks is a criminal organisation.

Putin would certainly enjoy a weak and vain man like Trump in the White House:

It is hilarious, terrifying and pathetic that actual political discussion has gone down the drain to be replaced by school yard - Lyin' Ted, Crooked Hilary etc.

Goes to show the failure of the American education system in a lot of American states. Newt Gingrich's assertion that feeling is more important than reality is another sign that critical thinking is not being encouraged in any way.
    Quite worrying really.

I don't think it's confined to the US. Michael Gove said recently, in reference to the biggest questions out to the electorate in a generation, that the British public are tired of experts. And it appears he was right.

People want to be agreed with, not informed. Which is essentially the ethos (a word I rarely see not applied to schools) of Fox News.

    So. Damn. True.

The rush, on both sides, to abandon critical thinking whilst also claiming themselves to be the real critical thinkers is absolutely hilarious here.

Sure, the Clintons couldn't possibly be corrupt, sneaky, weasel, liars could they? Not a chance. No way, no sir. Hahaha.

The debates haven't even started and I'm already running out of popcorn.

Can you imagine the absolute meltdown if Trump were to actually win?

Rather than pointing and trying to giggle at everybody, would you prefer instead to point out a few places where you believe people on both sides have abandoned critical thinking?

This way, we can get a proper discussion going.

    Honestly? No.

Why bother? We know whats going to happen.

The "discussion" goes round and round and round in circles. A little half truth here, an embellishment there. The odd flat out lie.

On here, this thread and the "Left Wing" thread are where Atheists go when they want to play at being religious.

Maybe after the elections in November things will be better. Maybe not. I'm sure many angry tears will be shed either way.

For now, I'm happy enough to just point and giggle at the rampant hyperbole and hypocrisy.

In that case, you can consider this post a warning that you will be carded or banned for contravening rule (3) of the forum charter (which you might like to take the time to read before posting in A+A again).

    Thanks.

So, Trump is now openly calling for Russia to hack the US.

    https://twitter.com/cspan/status/758320094619381760

I've come to seriously regret saying he was the lesser of two evils compared to Ted Cruz, as Trump is not only siding with the evangelicals (he supports the insane anti-LGBT law HB2 in North Carolina), the fact he poses a serious risk to freedom of speech, he's worse. Former grand wizzard of the KKK David Duke is even running for senate, citing Trump as an inspiration. Now this, coupled with his comments about NATO, is utterly terrifying. Trump poses an incredible threat to global stability.

Would you feel more comfortable if he started referring to Russia as "The Evil Empire" and demanded more spending on nukes and other missiles?
And because he is enjoying the latest Wikileaks he is threat to freedom of speech?

Isn't that very ironic coming from you seeing as you'd love nothing more but to censor anything you deem offensive in this world?

Because he's advocating treason - if, say, the hackers weren't Russian but American, would that make it more obvious it's treasonous behavior?

I'm a US citizen living in Ireland - if someone had done the same here, say Micheal Martin has a press conference where he asks a foreign nation to hack Enda Kenny's e-mail server, would he be guilty of criminal behavior? From what I've seen in Ireland, the laws are way more generous about that kind of thing and an indictment would at least be considered.

But, the US has freedom of speech (though of course yer man Trump's not the biggest fan of that part, nor the Constitution in general.) But freedom of speech doesn't allow shouting Fire! in a crowded theater, as they say.

Won't even go into 'decorum' or 'behavior,' this is Trump we're talking about, who fantasizes openly about dating his daughter and might be guilty of child rape.

Actually it does. The rules are tighter than that. Interesting history of the quote here.

But you're right, Trump has no respect for the law or constitution - especially when it gets in the way of his ego.

Not the same thing at all. Somebody hacked into the democrats system and found e-mails suggesting ways they might shaft both Sanders and Trump. All designed to give an advantage to Crooked Hilary and put her in the White House.
Its not in the realm of treason because none of these characters is the President.
Its just exposing political chicanery, which is always a good thing to do for democracy.
