Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there anywhere in this country where you can get an quick loan approved.

In England they have "Payday Loans" where you can pay the money back you owe in your next pay wage.

No point going the banks because it would take weeks so is there a quicker way to get a loan? Other than rob a bank :)

I'm sure there is. Most of them though have a few 100% plus interest rates. Look at the small print on any of the ads on sky and you'll see.

Legally, sometimes credit unions MIGHT help you at a push within a day (if your a regular saver with them, etc) - and if the amount is small enough.
Other than that, I can't think of other quicker legal routes.
(And its always best to avoid the loan sharks)

Ask HR for an advance on your wage, they might be accommodating

Have you anything of value you could pawn?

Interest is around 30% a month for gold I believe, fair old whack but for a one off emergency, worth considering perhaps.

Is it really that difficult to use Google?

Typing in "Payday loans Ireland" and clicking Search gives you

    Not exactly difficult

The small print doesnt sound good
According to the Central Bank’s register of moneylender licences, four firms – Southside Finance, Allied Credit Limited, Greenfields Financial Services and Provident Personal Credit Limited – are authorised to charge annual rates of interest above 180 per cent.

i've seen AER's of up to 4000% on some UK sites for short terms loans

avoid any of those ads on TV.. they give you shocking interest loan rates..

APR of about 1700% for that ad quick quid... Thats just mind blowingly high!

I think the ad "Wonga" has rates of something like 4000% APR :eek::eek:

Seriously.. keep an eye on the small print on those ads..

The interest rate is annual, so it sounds really bad.

Basically you borrow €200 and pay back €225 three weeks later.

This works out at an extortionate annual percentage rate, but in reality isn't as bad as it sounds...unless you don't pay it off in which case you get hammered.

Its a mugs game though, better off pawning a few things or selling your children.

The interest rate wouldn't really worry me it would be the friendly local agent calling regularly at my door that would worry me

yeah but if you struggling for money in this way will you be able to pay it in 3 weeks? If not that 4000% will begin to creep up on you

You could sell your ass down in the phoenix park

    or

I think that the Cash Converter shops that are nearly everywhere will give you a loan or you give them something like a T.V worth 400 and they give you the cash with an option of buying back the TV or something like that. Hope ypu get sorted out though op.

That's the whole idea of a payday loan though, you pay it back quickly.

Was thinking something similar myself. I am due a payout from an accident by the start of October but in the mean time am going away for 10 days and then need some money in Sept to pay for my son's college expenses but I can only get €500 from the credit union and coz am not working my bank wont give me anything either.

So Was hoping to get a short term loan that can pay off in full when I get my payout.

Before anyone gets on my back about being away for 10 days when am unemployed, my fella won the trip of a lifetime and is taking me with him. :D

I think you're allowed a certain amount of holidays when your unemployed. It's very hard to get cash at the moment the way things are. Have either of you got a credit card, these can be good for short term money. I was really skint for a few months there and i had to sell some of my stuff, was painful but had to be done. Any assets that can be sold?

I can't and won't ask for him to fund things as he is good enough to be taking me and I do have some savings put away but not as much as I would like. I thought that with my payout being due they would take an undertaking from my Solicitor but they won't.

I have never had a credit card coz would be dangerous with one!

What kind of expenses for college? Because you don't have to pay the fees right away plus I replied to you about a grant on another thread so your son will probably get that. Most books can be borrowed from the library. €500 should cover stationary & that kind of thing.

Have to pay £500 sterling deposit on his accommodation as soon as he gets his place and then pay his accommodation up front so will still be costly. Factor into that all the other things he will need and its scary!

Oh and thanks for that link by the way. Its gonna take a week or so before the SW fill in the form and get it back to me. :-(

They do exist, I know someone who works for one of these companies in Dublin. They sound like glorified loan sharks to me.
