    hi everyone.
im hoping for some advice as i have not got a clue whats what with this!

im tied into a contract with 3...the iphone4 was stolen nd i wasnt insured so i need a replacement. obv i want to replace it as cheaply as i can so iv been hunting round nd have found one that suits the budget. however the description says sim free, gevey sim.

can anyone explain to me what this is, how it works, what the benefits and pitfalls are please? i dont want to buy the phone only to discover as soon as i plug it into my laptop it locks or becomes obsolete with an upcoming software update!!

thanks a mil for the help!

I was looking at buying one on adverts.

This article says that iOS 5 will block Gevey Pro... On that basis alone I decided against putting in a bid for a phone that will be potentially unusable for a period of time until another hack is found.

What also put me off bidding is that the seller was bidding on another iPhone 4. I suspect the person selling it knows about this hence the sale.

Just by a iPhone locked to the network your on ie 3, O2 etc then you won't have any trouble updating to ios 5.

But do one thing ask for the imei number before you go to the seller and check its not block or reported stolen on the apple web site or your screwed! If it is and you handed over money.

If it sounds too cheap then there is something wrong be careful.
