how to wire a standard phone socket

    hello,a neighbour was having trouble making and receiving calls on her landline.her father tried messing about with the cable socket on the skirting board but made it worse.does any one know how this should be wired properely

    if this socket is the main phone socket provided to the customer by eircom she should give 1901 a call and report faulty socket, without knowing what the dad did here I cannot really advise. If your friend wishes to contact us we may be able to report fault for here, but she should try 1901 first.

    if this socket is the main phone socket provided to the customer by eircom she should give 1901 a call and report faulty socket, without knowing what the dad did here I cannot really advise. If your friend wishes to contact us we may be able to report fault for here, but she should try 1901 first.

    she phoned 1905 and was quoted 100 euro to have this fault rectified.is there a cheaper alternative

    Hi Ap1986 can you post up a picture of the socket and cables.
    A phone line only uses 1 pair , so its not as complicated as you might think.
    Also do you have access to a multi meter ?
