Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Everyone here is always talkin about RGB SCART and how good it is.

I have a normal Philips crt tv with 2 scarts. One is RGB and one is not.

But when I connect up my Wii with the official RGB cable it looks the same on both SCART connections.

    What difference should i see?

You sure you are using RGB scart and not hooking up the 3 yellow white and red cables to a scart adapter because this won't work.

If you are hooking it up through scart correctly you should be seeing a big jump in visual quality. If you want to check that you are getting a proper RGB signal then check for dot crawl artifacts, you normally see them on the logos at the start of games. Here's what to look for:

    rgb_comp_anim.gif

If that isn't present then you are getting RGB.

You're TV might be wired for scart in both connections or not wired at all. I find Philips is an excellent brand for CRTs so it might be that both are wired for scart. Try changing from RGB to composite and back to see if you see a difference. There's quite a jump in visual quality.

Did FONY ever make an official VGA or RGB SCART cable for the PS1?

If not, what's a good third party one to get?

Have you got one for the ps2? if you do then it's the exact same cable.

Nope, I use component for my PS2's. Those are not compatible I don't think as the PS1 doesn't have component capabilities.

Is there a PS1 VGA cable?

Nope, unfortunately not. RGB is the only solution for that one. Still, looks great!

I wonder if it's worth doing the PCB scaler mod for RGB+Sync? You'd get RGB SCART>SCALER>VGA>SLG3000>VGA then.

Unfortunately I am a complete and utter dicksqueezer when it comes to soldering and general 'faffing'. Hmm, where's 'The Doc'... :D
