Which course? After first year you specialise in to Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic etc. Different equipment ...

UCD Engineering is widely considered to be the best in the country, so I'm sure it's all good!

True at a postgrad/research level at least. Opinions vary from course to course and employer to employer. The Engineer makes the Degree not the Degree makes the ENgineer also comes into play.

For the love of God, do not pick your college based on what employers think or what newspaper writes who is the best college for certain subjects. Go to the college and course that you like and suits you. I really cannot stress that enough. Just because a college is best at X and better than Y, doesn't mean you'll like it. You could go to MIT and hate it, or go to UCD and love it. Your going to be there for 4+ years so be sure you like the place and course.

I'm in UCD Eng Sci which was the forerunner to the new common Eng program. Equipment is up to date and the courses are well run. I'm very happy there.
