The p.m. system appears to be not working. I tried to send one a few minutes ago and it hasn't come up in my sent mails.

You need to change your settings. At present they're set up not to automatically save sent PMs.

Go into your CP and click on Edit Options under Settings & Options
Scroll down to Messaging & Notification and tick the last box under Private Messaging
Don't forget to click on Save Changes at the bottom
