    Hi all,

I'm off to Cavan this August for the fleadh. I'm coming over on my own so I'm reliant on public transport to get me around the place.

Had a look on the bus eireann website for buses from Dublin to Cavan, and I can honestly say it's the most useless website I've ever used.

One routeplanner thing told me there were two buses a day - one at something like 6.30am and the other at 10.30pm. Then I looked at the timetables, and one timetable (the 109) says there's a bus an hour. If this is the case, why's the routeplanner being a knob? Do the timetables change during the summer, or is the journey planner just plain shite?

If anyone knows anything about getting from Dublin to Cavan (and back), it'd be much appreciated :)

the 109 goes every hour, you also have the choice of the 30 which goes through cavan on route to donegal.

you'll never be stuck, there's a great service

    Heres the 109 timetable

If you're coming from England it is possible to get a through ticket from many major cities and towns in England and Wales to Cavan via Eurolines. The National Express website has fare and timetable info: http://www.eurolines.co.uk/coach/Destinations/Ireland/Ireland-index.aspx If booked a few weeks ahead it is very good value. The coach travels on the ferry and whilst it's slower that air travel it's much more relaxing with less in the way of baggage restrictions.

There's a daily overnight coach both ways Dublin - Birmingham - London plus a daytime one that runs several days a week.

The brochure here shows the times clearly: http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1302602959-Eurolines-Brochure.pdf

Not too long ago, maybe just over a month ago the route changed so it goes to the airport now both to and from Cavan - Bus Aras, they must have had you in mind!
