    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Try find an automatic Seiko like a GBP200 SKX007 or SKX009 for half price anywhere. You won't find one. Take from that what you will ;)

That said, that's a lot of Seiko for your GBP69.99!

Citizen solar diver $166 with another 20% off with code CTZ20. I'm beginning to think someone has cleared the decks for new xmas stock and all the old stuff is on sale.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    ...

That's comparing apples to locomotives though. Quartz splash proof Vs individually tested divers watch. RRP of a skx in Europe is silly money, £200 is half price

That's tempting. Need a gift for someone. What duty etc might you be stung for?

Not sure TBH, vat @ 23% usually, try not to use a courier.

Too tempting, I've had one of those in my ebay watch list at £160 so I went ahead and bought one for the 133$. As it happens I have another watch on the way to a friend in the states so I sent the BN0151 there, its as easy for him to bring me over two watches as one.

I dive with a citizen jv0000-01e, which has depth and dive time display and alarms. I use it as a backup to a dive computer.

As an aside they also have the Eco-zilla with the additional 20% off, I saw one on adverts recently for 200€.

I think for that money there would be no resale in mind, basically wear it until its beat!

But I notice, unusually for likes of Argos, that they don't show a price such as €150 and a Half Price sticker, so maybe €75 is the RRP? Would that be cos its a Pulsar rather than a Seiko?

    For example:
    this one:
    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4975382

    £70 instead of £150.

Cadisen C1009G. Miyota movement, ceramic bezel, sapphire for €30.74. (price goes down when added to cart)
    https://www.gearbest.com/men-s-watches/pp_991136.html

No idea what it's like or whether the movement is legit.

Between meetings last week myself and my boss were killing time so we looked at watches in a nearby shop. I pointed out a Paneri that I liked and if only I had the cash. he walks in today with it on.. Im raging, though I am waiting for different watch I still am very jealous.

Next time, point out some horrendous but pricey one. One of Richard Mille's more obnoxious ones perhaps.

Here's a link to a review of another Cadisen. I know it's a different model but they seem to be good for the price point. I've figured it's worth a shot for 30 quid.

A bunch of watches seem to have this $3 off per $10 discount applied. I don't know enough about Chinese mechanicals to single anything out but they're saying the GUANQIN GJ16034 is popular also. And there's the Tevise sub homage for like €12 or something.

    Sorry, no idea.
I only posted the link in case someone on here might be interested.

Usually there are loads of Q&A on the Argos site. Might be worth checking them. And if not on the Irish site, try their UK one.

The fake paneri's are too good for me to ever justify a real one.

I like them, but couldn't justify more than €500 on one. Having said that, I've never seen a real one in the flesh. But very popular on the rep circuit, if I saw a real one I'd assume its fake. Lot are considered NWBG (not worth buying genuine) and I'd have to agree.

I'd say not an investment if the seller has had to knock close to 50% off the price. This looks like the same one for less, albeit not a LE.

These watches are churned out in their hundreds of thousands with almost nothing unique to them. Only a very tiny number of watches could be considered investments, and likely these would be very high end ones costing tens of thousands new.

Watches are not an investment. They are more like the lotto, you might be lucky and in a few years the watch you have might, for some reason have gone up in value.

When I went for the Explorer 214270, I wanted a watch that wouldn't loose too much of its value and hope it will always be worth between 3-4k. I hope to keep it for the rest of my life and maybe pick up one more Rolex (OP36) but I know these watches are not investments.

Watches like Seiko are great pieces. The way I look at it is a normal Seiko turtle might cost you say €350-€400 but should be always worth €200-€250 used.

I liken it to buying a car. Depreciate like a stone and you never know which will become a classic.

Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI is a classic. The 1.6 GTI not so much. Normal petrol or diesel 205, not at all :D:D:D

All look pretty much the same when new...

+1. I would say that especially these days they're really not. Time was they were, but at that time they weren't seen as such my most people. As is nearly always the case with "collectables" before they go mainstream. Even hardcore watch nuts thought the party would never end, when even many of the "rare" Rolex models were going for a couple of grand. Goes quadruple in the vintage market. IMHO 90%(may be a guesstimate)are overpriced now, and the market is over inflated.

Of the watches in my sprawl that masquerades as a collection? I wouldn't lose money on any of them. Would likely make double, triple or in a couple of cases more than what I paid. However, I've been a watch weirdo since I was a teen in the 80's and expanded the hoard on the interwebs mostly in the early noughties. The point when info and access and supply and prices and limited numbers of buyers came together. Before the Hodinkee "lifestyle" cool hunter types got into it and pumped up the bubble with the help of dealers and auctioneers and trust fundies who like to wave their financial willies at high ticket auctions.

I say buy what you really like, regardless of what the "experts" say, go for quality and enjoy what you have.

Funny enough having driven both when they were current I actually prefers the dynamics of the 1.6. Yep. I said it. *bans self for going off topic* :D

Though I think you can spot likely "classics" in most spheres. Something very much of its time, something well regarded at the time, usually something of higher quality, something that fashion loses track of.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
