Was just reading the "a distint memory of a c64 game!" thread and reminded me of certain things that trigger memories of old video games.

One is really weird ... Its like a certain type of fabreeze air freshener. My mam used to use it at one point in 1997. When I was mad into playing Command and Conquer for the PS1. I smelt it a few months ago and bang, C&C came into my head! :pac:

christmas always reminds me of playing FF7 as its when I got it. And any trip to the dentist reminds me of the day I bought and started MW2, because I had a tooth pulled that day that was utter torture and decided some retail therapy was needed afterwards so bought some new games :pac:

Music, always music. When i listen to some songs/albums i remember...

Tearing up battlefields in Wow while listening to InFlames and Disarmonia Mundi

And playing Vagrant Story while listening to the White Pony album from Deftones.

Diablo 2 and the song Schism from Tool. No idea but yeah must have had that on repeat while playing D2 back in the day

The smell of a certain brand of airwick always brings me back to Farcry and Christmas. Absolute brilliant game, I even thought the Trigens were good, shine on you pink stabby bastards, shine on.

My mother used to use a certain perfume years ago when she was getting ready to head out. I used to be sitting in the kitchen playing Donkey Kong Country on the Snes at the time. Any time I catch that same smell while out in the pubs these days, I think to myself "That chick smells like Donkey Kong."

The ad on TV at the moment for the new Zelda game.

It starts out with the sound effect and I automatically look at the tv, gets me everytime. Well played Nintendo.

The album "B12 - Time Tourist" always reminds me of mining minerals in starcraft as zerg, as i used to always throw that on before a game.

My runescape trigger is Linkin Park's Meteora album, 'specially http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-KvzFgw6sA cos I used to rotate the camera in tune to the beat.

My mother used to use a certain smell of flash bleach in the bathroom and now when I smell it, it reminds me of w*****g off :-p

    Christmas - FF8
Sick Days - Symphony of the Night

Those are my main two triggered memories from gaming

I'm a nerd, almost everything reminds me of some game, an event or quote in games. Luckily I have a sister who actually gets them and on rare occasion, even out-nerds me.

Mainly parts of our farm, since I was playing a certain game when had to be dragged down to work so was itching to get back playing.

The lane up to the farm remionds me of Wind Waker, one of the buildings of Banjo-Tooie, the farm at night during winter of Tomb Raider as there was a special of a TV show showing tons of TR stuff I missed as had to go feed sheeps.

Also, had a mix tape from way back, played it constantly while playing Harvest Moon on the PS1, so anytime I hear songs from it it reminds me of brushing cows and digging up carrots and such.

An area in Cabra always reminds me of playing Citadel. Everytime i walk through it i shoot back to 1985. The reason for this was , i went out for a walk whilst my brother was loading it on the Acorn Electron. Loved that game.

Meteora is my diablo 2 trigger lol.

Ah I remember runescape with such epic nostalgia. I would love to get back and play it again, but there is a problem. Everytime o try to play it I feel like pedo bear ...
I would prefer my misses to catch me watching some hardcore porn, then walk in and see me play runescape....

I got a cab late at night in Shanghai once which reminded me of Grand Theft Auto 3.
He didn’t actually run over any pedestrians but it was pretty close a couple of times

Yeah and also Chumbawamba - Tubthumping in Fifa World Cup '98

"Pissing the night away, Pissing the night away"

I think they changed it to "Kissing" for the game though!

I honestly lolled at this. Imagine this as an awesome pick up line:

" hello there, can I get you a drink? I noticed you like donkey kong too? "

I can't think of anything but Elite when I hear The Blue Danube - forget 2001 or anything else. Goddamn, I loved that game.

Playing Limp Bizkits chocolate starfish album always reminds me of the sims :)

I have an odd one. Whenever I see something with a dog-eat-dog world I find myself thinking about Eve Online. I watched Mad Max 2 the other day, and all I could think about was how their factional/territorial survival-of-the-fittest lifestyle was a perfect parallel for 0.0 space.

Concrete floors remind me of FFVII because when we moved into the house we were building I used to dread walking across the concrete floor in my bare feet but had a nice little snug area beside my playstation.

Also, my neighbours house reminds me of Mario64 since we used to always sneak in and play it with our neighbours dad

Certain films or shows like BtVS, Interview with the Vampire or House of Flying Daggers which I watched back in the summer of 2001 will bring back memories of Black and White, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2. In addition Highlander or Blink 182 songs will remind me of the summer of 2003 which will recall memories of Morrowind. If the sun shines in a very particular way during a Sunday evening during August it will remind me of Gradius.

I got Bon Jovi's Lost Highway album around the same time as I got Hulk: Ultimate destruction on PS2 a few years ago. And nowadays each time I hear the song I Love This Town from that record, I automatically think of bouncing around that small Nevada-like town level, throwing trucks at helicopters.

Hearing "Going Out Of My Head" by Fatboy Slim always reminds me of an LMA Manager game. Fairly sure it was around 2002. Was the main song on it.

So so many damn nights spent staying up playing that. Don't regret it one bit :')

Cornflakes also remind me of playing colums on the mega drive, i used to eat with one hand and play with the other, good times :)

If i'm ever using a computer mouse for an extended period of time and get the beginnings of a strain, my mind plays one of Deckard Cains lines from Diablo 2.

    "Lut Gholein..."

Haha, I ain't tried it... Yet. I don't reckon chicks would like being told that they smell like apes :pac:

Wagon Wheels (the chocolate biscuit) remind me of finishing Ocarina of Time. The last two days of my first playthrough were marathon sessions, during which time I actually forgot to eat for about eight hours. I was particularly ravenous after beating Ganon at the end of the second day, so I ate three Wagon Wheels.
