so, had a marginally disappointing experience today in the cinema... Had gone with a erm, friend, and found that despite it being early, the cinema wasn't empty or even near empty (as had been hoped for) despite it being quite early in the day.

So, does anyone know any cinemas in dublin where you'd get a bit of peace and quiet to spend some quality time with someone else and not suffer the monster in the next row munching through a week's worth of food?

City centre or suburbs (santry maybe? Dundrum?)

Just do her in a public toilet. That way you have money left over to buy chips after.

just pick a film that has been out for ages, then it should be pretty quiet. It's the summer holidays at the moment, so you aren't gonna find an empty cinema too easily.

Subtitled films - the great filterer.

The Swan Centre Cinema is decent during the day - no knackers, not a lot of kids & quiet enough for matinees.

I usually go to the Savoy. It's never as packed as Cineworld or other cinemas. It's way nicer in there too.

The Lighthouse used to be great for this. I saw loads of great films were I was the only person in the audience. Probably part of the reason it closed down.

Dublin cinemas are sh*t anyway. They all show the same movies as each other. Most show less films than the number of screens they have too.

A hotel room for a few hours would not be to far off the same price as 2 cinema tickets :)
