    HELLO.

Few of you saw my topic in the main board. I've been out on the cycle two mornings in a row. This morning i did 16KM round trip. Worked that out on google maps.

I'm not to sure what I'm planning for. To be honest the main reason I'm cycling is that I only train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu once a week now and finding the hard session tough on my body. Training on Saturday morning and sometimes even Tuesday morning could be finding my stomach / legs still sore. I've no doubt ( massive doubt! ) that cycling will help get me back into exercise and hopefully improve my fitness and leg strength ( important for BJJ ).

I'll be looking to get my own bike soon, Brother has his home from Dublin for the Summer. I'm not to sure what good a Garmin I see you all talking about will do. Just interested in distances which Google Maps can work out. I'll just say my Goal for July is to be able to comfortably be able to cycle say 30 KM round trip each morning.

I like to cycle early as less traffic and more time with my thoughts ( LOL, I'm just a nervous cyclist)

If you are just going to be cycling short dists like that then your best best is a simple computer with sensor that attaches to a spoke to record speed and dist rather than a garmin unit. much much cheaper.

Would allow you to verify google maps dists and account for any off road bits you do.

    Best of luck with it

Got into some cycling from a similar background (chinese wrestling and boxing). While I haven't seen much crossover, the cycling is good for general fitness and weight control, not to mention a very enjoyable way of burning those calories when you hit the hills. I also do a fair bit of circuit training and kettlebells to get the bits the cycling misses; if you look at a regular cyclist and a regular martial artist, they are likely to have different builds, where cycling is more specialised and geared towards endurance.

Best of luck with it, and as cookie_monster said, no need to blow a fortune on a Garmin, when you can get a Cateye or Aldi cycling computer for ~€20

I'm looking at it from a calves point of view for explosive take downs / bridges / making my triangle submissions tighter. Anything i can do that i enjoy to give me that slight edge! If not I'll just enjoy the cycling

    Tight Brazilian triangle submissions.

What sport is this again? :)

Oxegen last weekend put a stop to the early morning cycling and waking up this morning at half 5 I was simply too tired to get out of bed. Went out tonight when the roads were quiet and sun still up. Did my usual route and extended it out a little bit. Did 18.9KM in total. Legs feeling nice right now and have planned my journey for when I want to go a little further. However according to google maps that route is only 16.3 KM. I'll throw up screen shots of both routes. The second one seems longer so I might just stick to tonight's one.

    TONIGHT

23.8 KM. A lot of it against the wind in gear 6 on setting 3 ( if that makes sense to anyone, it does on my bike )

In 1hour 14 minutes. Feel great right now. off for a shower!

    I'm back!

Woke up early loads of times but fell back asleep. Not going to say it's a bad thing as I usually have a crash week every month when I get back ontop of sleep.

Speaking of sleep. I've not been to bed yet... Wasn't out last night I don't drink I forgot to mention that I think. So was playing taxi / watching people get ejected / rejected from a night club with a mate who has a championship GAA match today so couldn't go out.

Went out for a cycle! feel good after it. Quite cold actually. Shorts, under armor and vest. will need to wrap up I think. Worked up a bit of a sweat on the home part so going for shower now.

Lovely weather, was asleep late enough this morning so headed out to catch a good bit of the sun tonight.

http://runkeeper.com/user/265517146/activity/44664594 changing it up slightly but keeping in and around the same distance. Was more of a fun spin simply to enjoy the weather. Joining the gym this week I wonder should I post my bike stuff from there too.

Found out this is what happens my hair when I cycle 354843599.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJF3XCCKACR3QDMOA&Expires=1311535913&Signature=6%2BLFbs1vnPY7R5vAUA3MWhUicWU%3D

So I've not gone on a cycle as such since. However I've been out on the bike all the time. Just spins and I enjoy using it more than driving lately, no petrol , no parking fees it's a glorious two way system of pleasure.

I'm going to France today however. Time's won't be measured ( they might ! ) but I'll remember all my cycling and tot it up when I come back. Won't be using any apps over there or i'll get crushed with roaming charges.

    See you in a week!
