Swapping hard drives between laptops

    I'm looking to use the hard drive in my personal laptop (Dell 1318) in my work laptop (Lenovo T410).

    Both drives are SATA and my personal one fits in the slot. When I turn on the Lenovo with my personal hard drive I just get a black screen with the cursor blinking.

    It might be that because the laptops have such different hardware the harddrive you've put into your business laptop doesn't have drivers

    yea its unlikely to work without reinstalling windows.

    if you want to move data you could put it in an enclosure?
