Anyone Have Clarke, I had my usual fiver bet on Rory and Poulter :(

I had a euro each way on him in paddy power at the start 125/1 €158 back on that, by far and away the biggest price winner i've ever had - Purely betting with my heart. and had a more substantial sum on him to finish in the top 20 at 11/2, which i thought was very good price given clarke loves links golf. Backed about six or seven players at the start (all 1 or 2 euro each way and picking relatively big prices) and rose was the only other one to make the cut.

Absolutely delighted for Clarke, I had thought McIllroy was a shoe-in for sports personality of the year, not so sure now!

    have Watney at 38
    Schwartzel 46
    Ye Yang 130

Also did Watney ew with PP yesterday at 33/1.

Watney has good links record. Rory will be man to beat but he too short if he was 10-12/1 I be on him I think.

Adam Scott could be decent shout...

    Like you must get studying.

Well done to anyone who had Clarke..

My torrid run in the open continues. I also backed Hansen and Scott in the end but came out with zip all...

But delighted for Clarke great player and now has that all important major..

Delighted for Clarke, rounds up a great betting weekend for me, why can't they all be like this, just counting now and I've made almost 700 quid, all started with a €10 bet I made after I got refunded for Colsaerts withdrawing.

Of my 5 original picks only 2 made the cut - F Jacobson & G Bourdy but both struggled badly early today , backed Sergio Garcia at 22/1 as he has been playing some real steady golf the first 2 days , also have a few quid on Clarke at 14/1 & Glover also at 14/1. The conditions seem a lot better than they were this morning so hopefully they can start picking up a few shots this afternoon.

Clarke winning left me with a profit anyway, before the last round this morning i also backed Dustin Johnson to be the top American at 5/6 - of course his bogey on the last meant he tied with Mickelson but at least i got my stake back anyway!

    yep
joint fifth with two others so assuming you backed with
a bookie giving 7 places then you have a 25/1 winner

Will Clarke still show for the Irish Open? He might be a nice price to miss the cut after two weeks of booze!!

All my bets are down now :D

    Bjorn @ 175/1 (PP €5 free bet) 4th
    Stenson @ 66/1 (PP €5 free bet) 68th
Coetzee - Backed at 445/1 and layed at 389/1 (can be laid at 319/1 now!! Pity I didn't wait!) 15th
Karlsson - Backed at 94/1 and layed at 74/1 Cut
    Goosen @ 45/1 e/w (7 places) Cut
    Westwood @ 11/1 Cut
McIlroy layed @ 6.8/1, can back now at 17/2 but don't think I will. Not yet anyway, I'll post it up if I do back him though. T25

I know Stenson and Bjorn can be got at much better prices on betfair, even at the time of placing the bet, but I wanted to use the free bet so there ya go! Hopefully one of them gives me a good run for my money.

I'd like to say that I got a good run for my money with Bjorn but I really didn't. I was going to lay him on Saturday evening (I think the lay was around 16 on betfair - could have put 50 on it and made €50 or €75 but my internet was out!) due to the BBC hardly showing him at all. I thought the coverage was really bad. It was just a Tom Lewis bum fest and they weren't showing Bjorn at all until Sunday afternoon and even then I didn't see much of him. Bit of a joke really considering he was in contention every single day. On the rare occasion they did show him they didn't say whether he was putting for birdie, par or whatever and I never saw him tee off apart from one hole where he ended up on the lip of a bunker. I saw basically every shot McIlroy (never really in contention) and Lewis (come Saturday he was a goner) though, yay ¬_¬. Even for the week due to laying McIlroy on betfair and if I had the balls I'd do the same at the US PGA championship but I think he has a good shot in that, I won't be backing him at 9s though, no chance
