Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys i really need sum help and advice on this matter.....i am a small poultry farmer (approx 1000 birds) we reg with the department for a free range poultry farm and followed all guidelines set down by the department, last october the department officals landed at my farm and done a salmonella test which was positive, the head vet came out and restricted me and told me to have the birds culled and disposed of which i did (at my own cost),i then learned of 9 other farmers in the same problem who two months previous had recieced compensation i then started to seek compensation to at my shock was told i ws not entitled to it because the department sayed it was a strictly a onece off payment for the other farmers and that there was no scheme in place, i met with the then minister brenden smith who sayed he was meeting resistance within the department anyway the new minister simion covney told me i was not getting as for the reasons set out above, i really am at my wits end on this matter any info or advice would very much appreaciated.

Threaten to go very public with this and they might have a different view on things then.

I have had correspondence with the dept in relation to a different issue recently and they did say at the time that "There is also a current scheme of financial assistance for flockowners in whose flocks certain types of salmonella have been detected"

I would be inclined to fight them on it.

They didn't name the actual scheme but mentioned that it existed. That was in some correspondence that I had with the Ministers office. Would it do any good to talk to your local TD ? Sorry I can't be of more help.

I wonder would the agriculture appeals office be of any use? Seeing as how other farmers got comp and you were refused yet the cases were the same.

OP try an appeal to the dept in writing, there is a complaints office in dublin, sorry don't know the address, ifa should have it. If that doesn't work try ombudsman office, you will get contact details in the middle of a phone book. You will have to have made a complaint/appeal to dept first before you write to ombudsman.

Good luck with it, dept of ag like being judge, jury and executioner.....
