Want to support those that have reduced their prices and not support those that haven't.

Anyone want to post places that they have come across that have?

    Mod Note:

To ensure that no business is defamed - please note that if you are claiming that a business has not reduced their prices in accordance with the new VAT rate or has not passed on cost-savings to customers - you must provide proof. Otherwise the post will be deleted.

Took a note of prices before and this link http://www.movies-at.ie/swords/information.php shows that prices have not changed since 2009

It's going to be near on impossible for anyone to prove that a company has not reduced their VAT rate.

Even comparing pre and post prices does not indicate this as they may well have increased the pre VAT price since the VAT drop.

Charging the incorrect VAT rate is illegal and that is what the claims will look like here.

It might be better to rephrase the above to reduced their prices in accordance with the new VAT rate.

Totally agree, impossible thread to prove or disprove unless your checking the VAT rate on every receipt you get and offer evidence of that. Comparing prices based pre VAT reduction prices and post VAT reduction prices is flawed because the retailer could have increased its base cost by a 1% etc due to seasonality costs etc. while reducing the VAT.

A fair number of local businesses are embracing the vat reduction if our workload is anything to go by, we've been kept busy printing new pricelists and menus. It's great to see it being passed on to the consumer.

(naturally enough we have reduced prices ourselves to reflect the lower vat rate on certain printed items, eg flyers are now charged at 9% vat rather than 13.5%)

Might be worthwhile mentioning to your customers that people are interested in hearing about the changes and then post their details if they don't object.

They actually have changed their prices. A full price ticket is now €9.50. They just haven't updated that page.

Pasta Pizza in Skerries have also reduced their prices.

Wrights cafe bar in Swords have introduced a completely new menu, but comparing some items that were on the old one to the new, they've more than reduced their prices iirc.
