I'd sooner just try hang onto Niko over going anywhere near Benayoun. Niko streets ahead of him in my opinion!

I agree with you but it looks like Niko wants out and Harry is willing to let him go to get first team football elsewhere.

If/when the ugly Croat goes I don't think that Harry will spend 30 million trying to replace him with a similar player. That was my point regarding Benayoun - 30m, Sturridge and a Benayoun back on form may lessen the blow and free up the transfer money to find the world class striker we need.

Lets make chelsea pay...Sell for as close to 40mil as possible. Then head off into europe and unearth another diamond. That or make a statement to all other clubs and let him sulk on the bench unless he plays his heart out

I notice the poll has had a smajor swing over the last 24hrs !

Not convinced with Sturridge, am I the only one who thought he was pants in the euros not so long ago ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

I wouldn't judge him on that. Look at the service he was getting, Pearce was absolutely clueless in his setup with an incredibly poor midfield generally resorting to hoofing it. Look at any good piece of play over the tournament and it will have generally included Sturridge or Welbeck.

Chelsea wouldn't include Sturridge in any deal regardless.

I honestly would rather sell to a European team for 2mill than let him go to a competitor. The cheek of him wanting to have his cake and eat it.

Dream move to Chelsea = More money and family get to stay in London. End of.

I know its not good business and it's not my bank balance but I would love to see Levy make him honor his contract! So Luka you'd like to cry like a bitch, rot on bench you skinny ugly girl!

I wonder if we could get malouda as part of any deal?

Modric's representative Nikki Arthur Vuksan has confirmed his client's participation on the pre-season tour.

"Of course Luka will be going to South Africa," he said.

"He is a Tottenham player and he has a contract there.

But was he ? He scored a few goals for Bolton, hardly makes him a world beater. I'd rather we took all cash if any deal was to happen instead of taking any cast offs.

He always looked good @ the reebok stadium but he was abit pants away from home.

He has great potential but I dont think he's the answer.

If we bought two other decent , proven strikers AND then bought sturridge then that would be okay.

The only players that would be acceptable imo from chelsea in a swop deal would the likes of drogba, maybe torres and luiz. The key areas we need to strengthen are centre half and upfront, nowhere else on the pitch are they sufficiently stronger than us imo.

I say at this stage **** him. I have no fear that Levy will get a good price but £27m is an insult. I wouldn't budge below £35m and a player.

I'd rather see him go and try and move on then another day of this shíte.

is he really worth more than that? 4 goals last season (1 was a peno) and 3 assists??

i know he has a lovely turn of pace and can get past players but 12 goals in total over the past 3 years for us is not great!

I would love to know how many times he passed the ball before the pass which set up the goal though.

This situation is certainly similar to that of Berbatovs and I would assume that it may well have the same end result and we will be called a feeder club once again.

I personally love modric and will always praise him for the effort he has put in whilst wearing the spurs jersey. I wouldnt ever criticize him for any of the current debacle. He is answering questions that hes being asked and thats it. If he and Levy had that agreement in place then I think hes perfectly entitled to want the move.

Its up to spurs to show that they are the club he should be contending for the title with. Since we qualified for the champions league what have we done to show we are ready to push on? Sign Sandro, gallas and pienaar? Im not belittling those transfers but they cant have shown the other players that we were ready to push on which is what we need to do to keep a hold of our best players. As soon as we got CL football we should have made at least 1 big signing and shown our intent. Instead Levy held onto the cash we made from it

As a final point Redknapp has only ever had positive things to say about Modric's attitude and personality, as has everyone else ive heard talk about him. I would be amazed if money had anything to do with the transfer. He wants to win trophies and in 3 years we have not been able to provide him with that chance. And for those who believe we are as close to winning the league as chelsea im nearly after choking on my coco pops

What Luka has done in three years can't be described in stats.. He was voted player of the year last season by the fans, he was the heartbeat of the team

Come on. Dont judge players on the tripe you see on sky. He doesn't have a great goal scoring record, but should that de-value him, I think not !

he is to spurs what xavi is to barcelona,(xavi got 5 goals last season by the way).and like 1 of the guys said,he's the heartbeat of the team.
i went to 1 game last season..the cup game v charlton.....0-0 at half time and looking clueless, modric comes on and we go 3-0 up in 15 mins, totally changed the game for us.he's the best midfielder we have had in 20 years.but hes still gonna go.and it sickens me that it will chelsea that he go's to

There could be an interesting roundabout at play here. Real are looking for a striker - more than likely Aguero who Chelsea are also interested in. If Real get Aguero then they'll have to offload some players like Diarra who may go to Spurs which may mean Modric is free to leave for Chelsea who will have the money (of around 35-40m, which I think is madness for Modric btw )that they were going to splurge on Aguero.

    Strained connections I know!

I should be working for Sky Sports on transfer deadline day!!

Liverpool have agreed a £20 million fee for Stewart Downing. We should be aiming for £50 million for Modric if that is the market value of Downing.

chelsea trying to take parker on a year long loan, does that mean they are giving up on luca for 12 months?

What's parkers goal and assist ratio like ?

Probably similar to Modric's, though that's more down to Modric's poor goals v games ratio than anything else. If Parker goes there, he's just a buffoon. It's clear he'd be coming in as cover for Essien while he's injured, and when he comes back it'll be the same thing, sitting on the bench, losing any chance of playing for England. I'm sure he'll get more money than if he came to us, but at this stage in his career surely he's minted enough and only really needs to concern himself with getting England caps?
