I agree that we shouldn't sell because he's being a little bitch, but i also think £40 million is an unrealistic valuation for him.

He's a great player, and has done wonders at Spurs. But he didn't have as good a season last year, and he's older. £30-£35 million would be the right price, and we should sell him for that if possible.

Yeah I would be surprised if we didn't accept £35m for him. If he could score goals he would be worth 40-45.

I think its gas that he has thrown a strop and yet he still hasn't put in a transfer request, presumably because that would mean he would have to forego some kinda loyalty bonus. Footballers have no shame.

Doesnt need to put in a request at all, looks like he told vdv, who told the media, and that's enough! Hope vdv gets a cut of the price tag...!

The situation has been handled admirable by the club. Saddened and let down by Lucas actions but that's the modern day footballer. Both parties should come away feeling appeased.

Thought I'd bring a little humor to situation:

Madrid will sit and wait they wont be in any hurry and prob wont go much more than £30m.

At this stage i think Madrid and Modric are in the driving seat as i dont think there is much point in forcing him to stay this time.

No mate we're in the driving seat... 4 years left on his contract , unless they up the price Levy won't budge.

Yeah but Madrid wont be that worried if they dont get Modric, while Spurs will be left with a player who for a second year doesnt want to be at WHL. He may not bother his hole if he stays.

i'm sorry but i'v lost all respect for modric at this stage. we are in control cause the fool signed a long term contract when he wanted to leave. if he's gonna be a stuborn little sh!te and get his panties in a twist, i say let him rot in the reserves. if madrid dont come in with an offer equivelant to our valuation, lets sign up a replacement (moutinho) and carry on with our season.

harsh i know, but we cant be bullied by a player.

Nor can we afford to let a 30m player rot in the reserves.

We are not madrid or man city. If he is not going to be playing he has to be got rid off to allow for a replacement to be bought.

I trust Levy knows what he's doing so I won't be offering my opinion on what we should be doing about the situation.

Dead right, it's an expensive policy but it lets us keep our self respect and shows players that we won't be pushed around.

We really could do with getting a midfielder in soon though. Sandro at the Olympics and Parker going under the knife.

We can less afford to let our players know that they can get a move by refusing to honour their contract and refusing to play, and that we will drop our asking price to let them move on quickly. That will cost us millions over the years.

Letting him rot in the reserves will only de-value him in the end.... Let him sweat for a while and then off load him, no point keeping a player who doesn't want to be there, he'll only be a disruption to the squad imo

But why should Madrid get a player for less than what we value him? He is on a long contract so they should pay us what we want, end of.

Dont get me wrong, I completely agree with that, but I'd be fearful of keeping him disrupting the squad, his performances not being up to scratch, not playing him etc..... It will all have the same effect, which is not getting for him what he's worth.

"That is their speciality. They set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for.

Niko hasn't really got the hang of how business works has he?

"Levy did everything to protect the interests of the club and make a profit." OMFG:eek:

"I know from my own experience how difficult these people are and how hard it is to break out of a contract with them," SHOCKING STUFF:eek:

"Remember Berbatov? And it was the same with me. They held me back for two years, until my new club paid what they were asking and not a pound less. That is their speciality. They set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for." THEN THEY SAID SOMETHING ABOUT...... ER, SUPPLY & DEMAND?

"Dynamo Kiev is big on tradition and the fans, and though lots of people will say it's not like Tottenham, if you look at history, Dynamo Kiev is a bigger club than Spurs." ENJOY THE WEEKEND TRIPS TO ZORYA, KARPATY AND TAVRIYA

Excellent stuff. It's one of the dumbest rants I've ever heard a footballer come out with. He has basically said that Levy is doing his job very very well, and tried to make it sound like a bad thing.

What world do footballers live in that Modric can have 4 years left on a contract he happily signed in 2010, and expect that we should let him go for whatever price the buying club think they should pay, and if we don't do that, we are 'standing in the way of his dreams'.

Luka's dream in 2010 was to stay at Spurs for another 6 years.

Luka's dream in 2011 was to join Chelsea and work with AVB.

Luka's dream in 2012 is to join Real Madrid.
