Best of luck with this, yes cut the pace back to something between 6:30 & 7:00 per KM.

FWIW a half marathon is 13.1 miles long:eek:

Dublin is mostly flat, My normal days run or cycle would be all in the north side of cork city which is all hills.. cycling up strawberry hill is a real leg killer

If your Well in on your running training try upping the speed how You say?

All this will take is about 15 mins but You will notice time per km.

    30 sec jog.
    1 min run
    30 sec walk
    25 sec jog
    1 min run
    20 sec walk
    20sec jog
    1min run.

Do this for 15 to 20 mins twice a week. Good for the heart aswell. Giving it less time to recover from the run, and going right back to a run, will force the heart muslces to get stronger and so will lungs.

Also try out power breath lung trainer..

    Thanks Cork24,

Hills are a killer for me , since my complete lack of leg muscles :) ! ha!

getting a cold from Running ? Lacking Vit C ?

you should take Vit Tables A - Zinc along with a Vit C table you place into Water and drink.. Best thing to keep a cold at bay.. since i started taken them last year, touch wood... i have yet got a cold, had one or two Runny Noses but cleared up in a day or two..

After a tough week battling the cold! I ended with a good run, mentally it was tough because Saturday during my 3mile run I stopped :/

    Week 3
    Tuesday:4.5miles : 41:41
    Saturday:3.0miles :27:14 (I stopped for over a minute < nose running lol)
    Sunday:4.5miles : 40.09

I had aimed for 5.5miles to be completed on Sunday, its amazing how mentally a setback can do to your mental state..tonight it was tough! the negative thoughts in my head were terrible!

How do you guys deal with setbacks to a schedule ?

An interesting run in the high temperatures today ! I knew when I saw dead birds it was a bad sign!! The heat was a killer! poor birds never had a chance!..Perhaps running at Noon was not the best idea after all……..

Anyway the run was very tough, normally I run in the cool evenings, but today I ran during the warmest part of the day, Noon! …how very smart of me!!!…..

.....For more details about my run go to
    http://12weeks12miles.wordpress.com/

Does anyone find the heat a problem running ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 54 ✭✭12weeks12miles

This time I planned to really focus on pacing myself..and it really paid off! my first time running over the 1 hour mark! and i’m delighted..I’ve no idea why I was so comfortable tonight..I felt I could keep going!…Forrest Gump has nothing on me!

See my blog for the time and google map track.
