    Hi,

I am going to buy a race bike. What do I need to buy with the bike? e.g. cleats, water bottle, helmet, etc.

And any good site to buy this stuff cheaply?

    Thanks!

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ - Use only paypal with this lot due to problems with people credit card info!!
    http://www.evanscycles.com

Pedals with clips ofc! - + u will need shoes for them
water bottle X 2 and cages for same (or u could look at a hydration pack - camelback is a good make)
helmet ofc!! [look at something light! just will be nicer in long run)
as you on the road hi-vis is a good idea
spare tube for wheel saves u having to fix it onside,
tyre leaver 2-3 u will need
    multi tool is handy
saddle bag to put all that crap in!
    Good pump
clothing! Shorts with padding, and top - can recommend some good makes for first time buyers etc if you want!

All good advice above. I would add, get 2 pumps. A track pump for home and a mini pump to carry with you on cycles.

And for the most important information regarding gear see below :D;)

Thanks. I have been quoted just under 1k by my local bike shop for the lot incl entry level road bike (Merida). Is this good value?

Don't know the spec on the Merida, but looking to move to a road bike soon myself and fancy the Focus Cayo 105 Triple as great spec bike at a good price. At 1150 for the bare bike, you're probably looking at 1.5k all in and delivered, but still great value IMO. n.b. choice of compact or triple probably comes down to how strong you are on long hills, the triple on my hybrid made the WW200 a much more relaxed day for me, so I'll be sticking with it.

Well that site quotes RRP £550 which is ~ €615, so your quote of just under 1k for the lot seems expensive. Also, looking at the specs, the bike has some odd parts, I would've expected Shimano or SRAM drive train, but that could just be my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Edit: Quick search on line shows it for £499 elsewhere. Review of a similar but cheaper Merida on BikeRadar is very positive.

Holy shamoly, hadn't even seen that. Checked the voucher and it only brings the 13% offer discount to 20%, i.e.

    Goods total €1,159.57
    Delivery cost from: €22.99
    Extra Voucher Discount €92.76
    You pay €1,089.80

Still a lot of bike for the money, have to hold myself back from hitting the purchase button before talking to the wife ;)
