Recommend a server for database reporting in a test/dev environment

    Hi All

    Im looking to implement a lab in work for testing some vm's running databases like Oracle and SQL server. The OS deployed will be vSphere 4.1. Hoping for around 32Gb of RAM also.

    Should this be sufficient and any idea around cost.

    How many VMs ?
    How many client access per VM/ per database ?
    What kind of IOs you'r thinking of ?
    How real and/or close to reality the test system should be ?
    What budget you have in mind ?
    What is the lifecycle /lifetime of the development project or the office/business ?

    You sure in need of a so powerfull machine !?
    There are few good second hand servers on adverts...just make sure you have the x64 and lots of slots for RAM !
