    tl;dr

    draw a graph with time across the bottom and time on the side

    plot the progress on the way up , and then on the way down

    whatever way you do it the the lines must cross ( unlike ghostbusters )

    the point at which the lines cross depends on the speed you do different parts of the journey at


    but you only need four colours to do a map , and that includes the blue for all interconnected seas, rivers and lakes, - so you actually only need 3 colours for the countries / counties

    If you colour water connected to the oceans as blue, then you only need three colours for the rest.
