    Hi Guys,

Limerick Post, celebrating their anniversary, are putting up a number of their very old Digital Editions.

    Here is the first

    http://www.limerickpost.ie/digital/1986/1986-04-12/files/1.html

Example: Ad for Kranks Korner Saturday April 12th 1986 "Now Catering for Vegetarians" :D

    Great post.

Kind of shows me that we were always kind of an expensive country weren't we.

A lot of bank of Ireland advertising.

Actually I had a quick read through it with the missus.

Houses were £32k lets say and a Peugeot car was £7k. Seems a bit mad.

Also 1986, mens shoes for £24.99 . Seems a bit expensive considering my current shoes were €30. :D

They haven't changed their lay-out in 25 years! Great find, Berty Baron. Nice little bit of local history there.

My parents bought theirs in 1978 or something for £28k which was a lot for Corbally at the time. I bought mine in 2007 at the worst possible time in Irish history to buy a house so maybe when the Limerick post in another 25 years do a review my house will actually look cheap.

    I won't hold my breath though. :(

Sure some cars didnt come with a passenger side mirror!
Not the visor one either, the actual mirror on the side of the car!

Great post indeed - Many thanks Beer Baron.

Whats this reference to a Michael Noonan describing him as a Fianna Fail TD?

Just goes to show that no matter what Party colours an Irish Politician is wearing today the only thing that matters is either being in or else getting back in power.

    Hands up.

Who would have loved it if the Limerick Post had an "Out and About" section from April 1986? :D:D

My father was telling me about this a while back. Apparently everyone in the locality knows what really happened, here'say is that the two Gardai at the centre of this bear more responsibility for what happened Nugent than William Ryan was charged with.

Supposedly to this day, the Nugent family are still fighting this and looking for the truth.

Different Michael Noonan, former minister for defence from Bruff.

Still you got some of that anger out of your system, so your time wasn't completely wasted.

The same Ml Noonan who got Charlie Haughey to open his cow shed and never invited his party collegue Gerry Collins to the opening. :D

Thankfully, "Incest" has been practically eliminated.

In other unrelated news, Child Sexual Abuse is at an all time high.

Is that what you picked up on. £0.40p for a child to Roxboro pool was much more interesting to read. :D

Liked the article on Tony De Loughrey.
He was in the Army when I was in the FCA in the early 90's and was an interesting and friendly character.
