Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I am looking for some advice on ceiling speakers. For example, if i wanted to have 2 ceiling speakers in a room, maybe having an MP3 player connection for music, what other equipment would I need to do this? Amplifier? obviously speaker cable. etc

    Thanks

I'm just in the process of doing this myself.

I'm mounting a pair of Monitor Audio C380fx speakers in the ceiling. 8m of audio cable to connect them back to a Sony STR-DA7100ES AV receiver.

So, for you - speakers, cable, amp/receiver.

    thanks paul.
Did you buy the receiver online? Will the recevier take an input from i.e an mp3 player and have no probs outpuuting to ceiling speakers?

    Thanks

I have this receiver a few years now.

It takes a good number of inputs - different connection types - optical, coax, rca, etc.

So, it has no problem with different connections. For me, I'll have a media player, a CD player, a DVD all connected through it (to the TV).

It will have no problem at all dealing with the speakers.

You can buy some very cheap, and decent AV receivers, where you can connect everything together and power your speakers.

I always find the guys in Richer Sounds (www.richersounds.ie) brilliant for advice as well as prices/products. I ordered my speakers through them last week.

I have a few pairs of ceiling speakers in my house.
Some are powered by the amp in the sitting room.
The rest are powered by sonos ZP120.

These are this best addition I ever made to my setup as you can listen to music, tv or anything else you have connected at the touch of a button.

For example in the kitchen i have 1 x ZP120 wired to 2 pairs of speakers and a switch in the utility room to control which pair of speakers play. The input is connected to my sky box so I can listen to tv, radio or stored music all at the touch of a button.
They are not cheap about 400-500 per room but excellent value

    Carlos
