Predicted: 59:30, finished in 59:25, so doesn't get much more accurate than that. Probably should've worked a little harder in the first half. Another superbly organized race series event. Happy with the result, but have a lot of work to do for my marathon goal. Good to meet all the Boardsies afterwards.

I thought it was a good race and very well organised. Good route and great atmosphere too.

I just have one gripe in relation to the mile markers. When I came up to the mile 7 marker about 80 minutes after the wave 3 start there were two guys taking down the marker and putting it into a van. They then drove off along the course and appeared to have removed the mile 8 and 9 markers too as there was no sign of them.

Now I'm a fairly slow runner - finished in just under two hours - but there were still plenty of people along the course at this point. I know these things are probably more important to the serious runners but slow runners pay the same entry fee and at least deserve to have the markers left up so we know how far we've gone :(

Other than that it was a great race.

    That's poor form alright!

72:19 chip time for me. Although its a massive age PB and the second fastest I've ever run 10 mile I'm still a little disappointed. 7:12 pace was a test today to see if I could run that pace for the half next month, well, thats not going to happen, the last mile really hurt, so mcmillan suggests 7:20 pace for the half, meh.
A five star from me for this race, very well organised, spoiled a bit over the first mile by the mypod junkies but thats part of the course with these type of mass appeal races. Very good value for the three race series.

Got caught out by the heat of the day, i usually run in the evening so the sun was a killer today, and surly more water stops could have been provided.

67:10 for me. Very happy, considering where I am with training.

Superbly organised event and was very impressed by the facilities and extensive number of volunteers (particularly those manning the baggage tents). This event has come on a long way.

Started in the first half of wave 1, but still ran a very slow first mile with all the dodging of slower runners who can't hear you because they have music blasting in their ears.

What else can organisers do? Something like the Mini-Marathon where you have to run a qualifying time to get into the first wave?

Am totally out of the flow of racing, and my pacing was totally erratic. Ran a slower mile up Chesterfield Avenue than I did up Military Road, which I'll put down to me zoning out and enjoying the good weather! My lack of race practice may also explain why I forgot my bodyglide and am now walking like John Wayne despite the extensive amount of sudacream applied to sensitive parts of my body. :o

Great to be back involved again, although went looking for faces after the race that I would recognise but saw no-one. Had to get home quickly though, so couldn't really hang around.

74:35,had to do negative splits to break 75 after a poor first mile.Everything well organised except surely at least one the water stations could have had small bottles instead of cups, didn't bother with water at all in the end.

Delight with the race today very well organised and the weather was even great, lovely sun but lovely breeze in places too....i really enjoyed the race and never felt under sever pressure....predicted 98 but am absolutely thrilled with a new PB of 92.12

Well done to all the organisers and the volunteers..these races would not be possible without them!!!

First 10 mile for me. Was lapped at Mile 3 by the leader and second place guy, who were on their final mile to the finish! Haven't a clue what their names are but it felt like a celebrity spotting:D

Finally finished more than an hour after those guys....at 1.49.21

Not the best time but delighted that I can say I ran 10 miles!

Volunteers were really friendly and I loved the atmosphere.

79:23. Delighted with my performance today. The one time I ran the full distance in training I did it in 93 so I was targetting sub 85. I just seemed to have loads more energy-must have been the adreniline or something!

Lovely course. I know it's physically impossible since we ran in a big circuit but I felt like I was running downhill a lot more than uphill. Mile 9 in particular was really sweet.

    Two minor quibbles:

    1. The 6th mile along the narrow footpath up Chesterfield avenue was really tough to maintain pace on. I ended up running in the grass, avoiding holes and jumping over mounds becasue I couldn't pass people on the footpath. I ran fairly consitently overall but this mile was a full 30 seconds off the rest.

    2. The water stations. I'm not 100% about this but was there only 3 tables, all together on only one side of the road in both locations? I had to actually stop and go back at both stations to get water which isn't ideal.

Overall though it was a great morning out and easily made all the training worth while.

Yea I was the same, it was my first 10 mile race and I was very confused at first when I didnt see the 7 mile marker. It was hard to keep a track of how far you had gone and how you were going with pace. I finished just over the 2 hour mark, which I was delighted with but there were plenty of others behind me.

1.01.51.... well pleased considering mile 1 was nightmarish .... Just couldnt get past the slower runners and first .5 mile was pedestrian... Speeded up a bit but passed mile 1 in 6.29 so damage was done....

Cant blame organisators for it... Just a case of far too many slower runners up the front delaying so many of us....

Overall very well organised and great way to spend a Saturday morning :)

Bananas, i found the same problem on the narrow paths but thats just volume in a smaller space....but still not nice. pity they couldn't use the roads

There was water stations on both sides of the road, but they couldn't get the water poured quick enough....so some people were left standing...having said that the table at the end was full of filled cups!!!;)

Nice workout this morn. Went out way to fast, which was exactly the opposite to what I planned. Ah well, still an enjoyable blowout

Anyone up for doing Athlone 3/4 Marathon after Phoenix Park race series? We set up special discount for this participating in 10 mile today. Just put 10mile as discout code to get €10 off for weekend ...

Hope mods ok with me posting this - if not, apologies, just delete.

I'm already signed up for it anyways via a discount offered about 6 weeks ago. Fair play-its great value!
Just have to worry now about the little detail of the galway hm the day before! I'll be wrecked for athlone!

Well, I owe you all a drink (according to Krusty):)

    Predicted 74.59, chip time 75.40...

Would have loved to come inunder 75 but I'm feeling the effects of two weeks before tapering before Berlin, my legs, my mind and my body are tired.

On the plus side it was a super day for it, organisers amazing and a Ripple in the Goody Bag:D Also I came in ahead of my husband, only just! His first 10 mile and he ran 77 min, happy house.

Mile 5 to 6 was by far the toughest as most posters have said, in the end I gave up trying to overtake (probably cos I was tired) and only ran a pace of 8min miles.

    Well done to all.

Good race today. put down 89.45 and managed 88.09 so happy with that. I was quicker in the second half with mile 9 being the quickest. Was a bit warm and I hate the water in cups but over all - really enjoyed it. Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers. :)

70:55 for me, 1 min off my PB but still happy with my run. Conditions were great, the course was fairly testing and it was well organised. Good entry price, nice technical top - a 5 star race for me.

Standard definitely higher this year. Last year my time would've gotten me 27th place, this year 40th!!

Ended up with 79:41. First time running 10 miles so i ran well within myself for fear of coming to an abrupt halt late in the race. Maybe could have run a little bit faster but i'm delighted anyway. I'd have been chuffed with the 83 mins i predicted.

One quibble, i was given a wrong size t-shirt. Nice chocolate bar though.

Ran 76.15 predicted 76.00 so happy with that as first ever 10 Mile Race. Found the climb in the last mile a killer, thought I was going to have to walk the last half mile. Great atmosphere on the course & nice goodie bag so a 5 star race for me.

I thought this was an excellent race, a fab course and really well organised and stewarded with a great goody bag. Much more competitive than last year I agree. Put down 1'15'59 as my predicted time and got 1'13'27 so very happy, think the great course helped me.

Same as. I timed it at 76:12, the people who were with me all have a difference of 1:44 between chip & finish times and we all crossed the start together so I reckon my chip time should be 76:14 & not 78:58.

Well organised race, really enjoyed it. going to give it 5 stars would be harsh not to score it 5 just cause of the chip issue, technical problems can't be blamed on the organisers

Aye some chips don't register, if you started with some mates, take the diff between their chip time and clock time and knock it off yours, will give you your actual chip time........I thought they said this was the worlds premiere timing system....seems a bit hit and miss to me.

mixed feelings on todays race for me.

    the good stuff:

    - weather excellent
    - great atmosphere

    the bad stuff:

    - a skinful of pints last night was definitely NOT the preparation for this race. Fine for the first 5 miles but legs faded rapidly in the second half. Finished 81:09 which is 3 mins slower than last years PB.

    Lessons learned for the half!
