Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have just applied for an airport pass to work on daa grounds, will a conviction i received 9 years ago effect this decision i have not been in trouble in 9 years can i still be punished for this foolish crime. By the way it was a fight and i was convicted of assault and did CS for it.

It all depends on DAA's policy. As the conviction didn't involve dishonesty or drugs I would be inclined to think that they would overlook it, especially given the fact that it happened so long ago.

This isn't really a legal issue since they can refuse to employ you based on the conviction and if they do, there's nothing you can do about it. You might get a definitive answer over in the aviation forum, someone there might be up to speed on DAA's policy in this area.

Thanks for the reply, I only posted here because I was wondering if there was a statute of limitations on convictions regarding job applications, i know in England your conviction is wiped from records after 7 years with no repeat offences in regard to background checks (or so I heard) and was wondering if there was a similar thing here. I guess if Andy Coulson can get a second chance why can't I ;)

Andy Coulson didn't have a criminal conviction.

I agree that you should get a second chance but remember all the stings that tabloid newspapers have carried out involving people with criminal records (recruited by the newspapers) getting jobs in sensitive areas followed by sensational headlines.

It may be that a lot of official agencies are paranoid about getting caught out by this type of sting as a result of which they will not give a job to anyone who isn't 100% clean, you could be the victim of this.
