Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whoever was driving that car should be given a serious paddling. There is no excuse for that kind of stuff.

The blood is streaming down the back of Hogerlands legs. Lucky lucky lad.

Didn't even look like the driver bothered stopping or slowing down.

Had he gone into the tree there could have been a car pile-up. Should have spotted it sooner though.

Euro NCAP front impact tests are done at 64 km/h. 40kph is not a huge deal, even into a tree.

Unfortunately I think there was a motorcylist behind the car, but still.

Hoogerland looks in bits. Thank God its a rest day tomorrow if he manages to stumble across the finish line.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,916 ✭✭✭NickDrake

    What a crazy shocking stage.

Very brave for the boys to keep riding now in the finish. Johnny h.

Kind of driving you see in dublin everyday with cyclists getting injured. Male or female driver anyone know?

Regarding vino. Awful crash but feel no emotion for the man who cheated his sport all his career.

What come around goes around vino

That driver has to face some sort of punishment, and being "thrown off the tour" isn't it. He knocked down two cyclists and then drove off, wouldn't that be a crime on open roads?

Karpets pushing contadope. Absolute madness. Will he get kicked off the tour??

I wonder why he did it? Pretty legendary in fairness

Eurosport haven't taken one since before the accident.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭AG2R

Yeah Eurosport and Sean Kelly all the way for me.
Btw Karpets didn't push him as such no physical contact just forced him to ride closer to the side. Can't see much done about it tbh, definitely won't be kicked off.

Voeckler is putting big time into the peloton. Sanchez will probably move to #2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,913 ✭✭✭JacksonHeightsOwn

Pretty poor performance by the main peloton today though, Garmin have pretty much given that yellow jersey up with a whimper, a bit defeatist IMO,

There goes Nicos' chance of getting into the top 10 today as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭ashleey

Had to give up with itv4. The ads are ridiculously long. Got my wife translating tg4 for me. Is Hoogerland allowed to sue that driver?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Would one of Hoogerlands team mates not be sent back to help him complete the stage, same as was done for one of the riders a few days ago. Looks like he's really suffereing.

I'd imagine the race organisers have told him he can roll in outside the cut off time, he should be given the same time as the break away group, if not, then the same time as the peloton

With Van Den Broeck and Vino both crashing today I'd say Roche's chances of finishing in top ten are at least as good as they were this morning. Not sure where he finished there though

Hopefully, would be terrible if he was penalised for something caused by one of the cars. Hopefully they give him that competitor of the day award as well.

Pretty sure they said that the cut off won't matter on Eurosport as it was out of his control.

Something ironic about the king of the mountains finishing 6 mins down :pac:

Well there was AG2R bib in there and pretty sure I could see the tri colour on the sleves!

    they did. jointly with Flecha

Peraud was the AG2R rider in the front group. Roche allowed a gap and lost 8 secs on the front group. By my calculation, he jumps Hush, Millar and I'm not sure who else, while being overtaken by Voeckler, Sanchez and Cunego.

He was in the lead group. TG4 lads confirmed it. You could seem him pulling a strained face on the climb just before the last corner. Didn't look as comfortable as some of the others but he got there.

flecha and hoogerland finishing in a group their both awarded the combative rider prize (never been awarded to 2 riders before)

Official TdF website has him 8 seconds down on the lead group.

lovely riding style off the saddle has Voeckler. there was a stat that had him doing 65% of the wrok at the front today. incredible.

Should be made to go back and drive into the tree.

A video clip of this should be sent to Ian O'Doherty.

I wonder was that a barb wire fence. Think Hoogerland landed on it. Some man to get back on the bike after that. You look at soccer players and they falling all over the place for nothing. You have to admire cyclists.

oh right. Must have mistranslated. I only have half decent Irish.

Roche was basically in the front group..but there was was a small gap somewhere in the lead group...which meant he wasn't awarded the 3:59 and got the few extra seconds it took from the lead of the group to where the small gap appeared to cross the line...its a pity since he was up there, but you let that wheel in front slip by 2 metres...you get the added seconds.
