Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Replacement for FSA Gossamer cranks

    Hi,

Bit of a dilemma with what cranks to get. I had a tumble which damaged my cranks and chainrings. The driveside crank is bent so I think it will need to be replaced rather than fixed (please correct me if you've any experience of bending cranks back into shape).

The damaged cranks are FSA Gossamer Mega-Exo Triple.

So my questions are (1) should I move to a double; (2) should I stick with Mega-Exo; (3) should I stick with FSA or move to Shimano/SRAM?

If I go with a double is this going to work with my shifters (105 10 speed STI)?

If I go with an Ultegra triple do I need to change the BB or is HollowTechII the same as Mega-Exo?

    Sorry for so many questions.

    J

Switching from Triple to Double will require a change of shifter. I think the derailleur will be ok.

Switching to Shimano/SRAM will require you switch the BB however this is an expendable item so shouldn't be an issue. It'll work fine with the current shifters too.

I had a shimano 105 9 speed set up on my hacker. It had a triple chainset.
I switched to a FSA compact. I didn't have to change the shifters. The shifter works perfectly with the double. However I had to change the front mech, and I also changed the rear mech to a short cage one.

Cheers for the replies. Switching the BB seems like the way to go.
