Cycling home from work today in the snow - bitter cold and I met a fellow cyclist in his mid 50's with only one glove. Very nice and friendly.
He was gutted the poor man. My fingers froze with 2 pairs of gloves so I don't know how he managed.
I can't stop thinking about him, hope he got home ok.

I presume you gave him one of your " 2 pairs " of gloves , the poor man :)

89km and 1240m of climbing around Howth. Fairly blustery out there today. Strava climbing challenge done I think. Still one ride left on Saturday.

cycled home from town to leixlip in the snow, glad i'm using the hybrid with lumpy thickish (38c) tyres
worst part was the snow going into my eyes, very stingy and blinding, feet absolutely frozen, no skids or falls

Galway cycle again. 50km plus 20 of my own. Nice 70 km. Windy as bejaysus on the way out but had it at our backs on the way home. Strava decided to go in strike 3 km in so no idea how quick it was.

Went to ballyhoura with another boardsie today. He was with a couple of his mates who hadn't been before so the pace was pretty relaxed, but absolutely freezing, got hit by snow, rain and everything else you can think of.

I had spent a bit of time setting up the suspension on the bike during the week as I had rebuilt the fork a few weeks previous, and just pumped it to a roughly correct pressure. It made such a difference getting my rebound and pressures perfect, not too much pedal bob,but serious impact absorption. The cable pinch bolt on my front mech slipped loose today,so I was stuck in the granny ring for all of it. I usually challenge myself for not using that ring, and to keep the cadence up on the regular ring, but It did make climbing easy.

211 km through Ratoath, Summerhill, Rathmolyon, Athboy, Oldcastle, Kells and back down. Started off windy, frosty and cold..stayed windy and cold, then it got colder later on. Time for a curry and a beer !

That's the (audax) spirit! I thought about doing a mere 130km in that area but looked outside, chickened out and went for a short 50 in Wicklow only :o

Probably a wiser decision ! There was all sorts of muck on the roads of NCD and Meath, as well as everything else. Man I gotta get some mudguards..:)

Galway City, Rossaveal, Oughterard and back to Galway City.
    93.1km - 4:43:15 - 894m
Not a great average speed as my friend got cold and bonked. :'(

I've been talking about cycling to Rossaveal and Oughterard for ages.
Finally did it today, with my buddy. Got pelted with hail stones on one of the harder climbs.

    220kms today in 9 hours 27 mins.

Angel of Mons Audax postponed again due to inclement weather so I decided to do it anyway (Rule No. 5 etc.)

Very blustery and bitterly cold after darkness fell but very little rain which was a bonus.

30 mins in the turbo watching Seinfeld. I'd have expected the turbo to be boring but watching tv makes it bearable.

Headed out with the club today. I cycled in and when we were finished I went the long way home. I had to fight my way home into the wind for the last 7km. It's the longest cycle I've managed since I got back on the bike :)

    60.1km, 25.7km/h, 382m

once i got thru' Celbridge got a good pace going, was with a bunch of club riders on the Boston & Athgoe hills kept up on boston , first over the top on Athgoe(of the bunch!!)
aiming for the Trim 80Km next, anyone familiar with the course/area used?

Bike + train down to the fathers over the weekend, about 35k yesterday and another 45k today, taking all the little back roads around passage east, faithlegg, cheekpoint, etc... Windy yesterday, but lovely today. Highlight today was an old fella running down the pier at Ballyhack at a great lick to hop on the departing ferry. Chatting to him on the way over, he admitted that at 81 he wasn't nearly as fast as he used to be!

60kms this morning. Greystones up the Red Lane of Pain- will never get used to that one- out to Roundwood over to the water treatment plant down into Rathnew out to Wicklow town and home via Newcastle.

Felt absolutely knackered from Rathnew to Greystones, could barely turn the pedals in spots! But when I uploaded to Strava i saw that i've done 210kms since Tuesday my most ever in one week! Maybe that had something to do with it! Ah well, back to work tomorrow. I could get seriously used to being off and just cycling!

Got to head out again today and I'm glad I did as it was a lovely day. I headed out at 12:30 and there was still a nice bit of ice on my back road but once I hit the main roads all was well again. I clocked up 55km but my legs were gone by the time I got home. I think I may have been a bit ambitious doing two long (to me) rides this weekend. How and ever I got true it and have 136km clocked up this week

    55.4km, 26.8km/h, 251m

Did the 112 km junior tour sportive. Suffered badly with cramp around Johnstownbridge and again in Allenwood but once I got shook of it I was fine. Was well hydrated so I'm just putting it down to over exertion. I checked my speed back to 24-25 and didn't have any real bother until
some sadistic prick decided to put two dirty hills back to back right at the end, the second one was fkn horrible after 105 km already done. Strava decided to go ape on me, only recorded the first 76 and clocked me at nearly 80 kmh before knocking off. Really don't think I was going that fast :D
Overall, I enjoyed the day. Got back in 4 1/2 hours, don't know the exact details.
    Met Orion and Borderfox too.

Attempted the 112K Juniour Tour Sportive today but made an absolute hames of it..

Was still with everyone at Maynooth, but soon after I got lost... stupidly followed a group in front of me.. soon it was just me and another chap..who then at one point he turned into his house!!

Didn't memorize the route and had a technology meltdown with the iphone freezing up..

ended up in enfield..saw a few coming out as i was going in.. then realized I should have been coming from Kilcock and not heading to it!

Was right from thereafter but only reached clane at 4..

organized a lift from there should have kept going.., still managed 100K anyway and a personal best ave speed of 26K...

ego bruised, not a great first sportive.. but looking forward to the next one with the lessons learned on board! feel like a big feckin eejit :P

You could make touch with someone who did the same route and ask for their GPX file and upload it as your own.

I fixed a file for some else like that last year.

Try uploading to ridewithgps, then export it back out again and reload it in Strava. They have a tool for cleaning any file errors during upload...so that might fix it.
