As a kind of counter to this, Prog is often dismissed as a technical musical **** when people often don't bother even listening to the music.

The neo prog movement is producing some of the most vital music around today.

I know, I like a fair bit of it :D

There is a tons of it however that is just progressive for the sake of it.

Noel Gallagher always was and always be a complete twat, decent musician, good at what he does, but my god he loves himself

You'd love yourself if you were Noel Gallagher.

Someone has got to make an unpopular opinions thread in the "Celebrity and Showbiz" forum so that all the opinions about musicians themselves can go there.

I mean this is a "Music" forum, so should we not be discussing the art rather than the artist, i.e. Noel Gallagher's music not whether or not he's a twat or loves himself. Its irrelevant to actual musical output.

    All musicians are twats tbh.

    Except Robert Plant of course.

Some pop artists are extremely humble and shy e.g. Britney, Lana Del Rey
Even though I know many are cocky twats

Was thinking the other day how the Paparazzi invades her life day to day. Dickheads will do anything for cash. No one deserves to have their life scrutinized like that.

Those celebrity experts on E! entertainment channels can fuck right off too.

In terms of an overrated band, im sorry, but i think "The National" qualifys for that. While Matt Berninger, does have a decent baritone voice, i have to laugh at the way a lot of music journos hype them up to such a huge extent, to me there just average.............

I can understand why a lot of people don't like them. However what really makes them appeal to me is their lyrics and how Matt uses his voice to sink the lyrics into you. I also like the way their music is really slow-burning, you could listen to their albums over and over again and still come away with something new.

As The Dude said - "'I hate the ****in' Eagles, man!".

They are out of control; smoking meth, shagging hookers and setting fire to hotel rooms. Did their mammies not teach them some manners?

Pink Floyd are one of the most overrated bands ever. Their music is too long winded and you have to be on drugs to appreciate it.

I'm 28 and have never taken/done drugs (other than alcohol:p) and i think pink floyd are great

Up to The Wall, I'd totally agree. I did manage to see them at Live8 & they were special...

I presume Captain Slow has done his research here and listened to Pink Floyd on drugs. Otherwise there's no merit in what he posted.

I think drugtaking has concluded in me finding Pink Floyd quite dull for the most part. Dsotm is excellent but Ive never been compelled to listen to the discography.

I can't say I've ever been enamoured with Pink Floyd either.

I can't see why everyone is raving about Frank Ocean, but then its a genre that I don't like anyway

-Reign in Blood + Master of puppets are overrated as hell, only well known and acclaimed because they got mainstream attention.
-If you haven't grown out of mallcore by age 16, you should be ashamed
-Black Sabbath's later albums were great. Born Again, Eternal Idol etc.

Can't think of anything more right now, might add more later
