Placebo are misunderstood and Brian Molko is a lyrical genius.

Placebo's few decent moments were when he shut up and stopped his hollow rhyming while the band tried to impersonate Sonic Youth.

Thsi thread reminds of this song....

Hall & Oates, random Goth, Miles Davis
Patti Smith, Simply Red, Sly Stone
Be they false or for real, I don’t care and nor does Neil
Just so long as we can hear their song
    Irk the purists
    Irk the purists
it could well be an Olympic sport

IDM is the most patronising genre name in the history of music.INTELLIGENT dance music.....what self righteous bastard came up with that

    Here's a more original opinion.

Oxegen in general has much better line-ups than Glastonbury.

The only exception is this year Glasto had U2 as a headliner.
That is pretty ridiculous. They have every good act oxegen has and literally dozens more...

Rory Gallagher wasn't very good at all. I couldn't tell you the name of any of his songs.

probably because he never released a single

and how can you say he wasn't very good when you never listened to him

All the bands that have ever been labelled as IDM have rejected it... Nobody likes it, but there isn't really any other term to talk about that music, is there?

I have listened to him, heard him many times. Hence why I don't think he was as good as he's made out to be since none of it was very memorable at all. I'm sure he was a decent guitar player, but that's about it.

    Not sure how unpopular these ones really are, anytime I've said them I've been met with guffaws/arguments, but here goes;

Prince is one of the greatest musicians working today/ever.

Aphex Twin is one of the greatest musicians working today/ever.

The truth! A fantastic musician, but I think that gets overlooked due to his purple wackiness

Adore is, by far, the best Smashing Pumpkins album.

White Light/White Heat is the best Velvet Underground album.

"Bam Thwok" is a fantastic song and was well worth the wait for new Pixies material. It has become one of my favourite Pixies songs now, actually. (Okay, maybe not top 10 but definitely top 20)

Whether or not glasto is really missing out by not having all these acts is debatable.

The best band of the 1990s was Carter USM.
My favourite Neil Young album is Trans.

No one has said "The Beatles are overrated" on this page yet. What's happening?

Here is one instance, I'm sure there are others, I haven't read the whole thread. There are so many opinions here that are just so wrong I'd only have to walk away from the computer in despair.

I'm suprised...well not really some of these unpopular music opinions are quite... well not many people I know would say anything about it.

Do you want to know whats really bad I am in my 20's and really enjoy My Chemical Romance's first two albums, I saw them play the Ambassador in 05, fantastic show disappointed with what came after.

I don't like muse to agree with an earlier poster but I do like Placebo and Radiohead.

I was joking really. On the first few pages almost every second response was "The Beatles are overrated". Three people said it on the first page alone.

That's because My Chemical Romance wrote a lot of great tunes!

Yeah defo they still do but it doesnt have the same energy, they have a bad rep. Great band for small venues ie Ambassador 2005 quality.

I was actually surprised so many people said the Beatles were overrated.

Personally I think they are overrated but that too is "uncool" where I live (Leixlip).

I really don't get the hype, its probably because John Lennon seemed like a Godly philosopher type songer-songwriter compared to every other rock star at the time.

He was definitely the most talented member and I can honestly say I have no idea why McCartney never worked with him again.

    Unpopular musical opinions?

I think Blink-182 are talented musicians. Rebecca Black is the greatest female vocalist of all time. I don't want to vomit every time I hear Jedward sing.

Cant be bothered reading back....my unpopular music opinion is that Kings of Leon are hugely mediocre and I am horrified that they sold out slane. I dont think they are worthy of being picked for such an iconic location and in general i dont see why they are as big as they are!

Also horrified that they held number one and two of some countdown I was watching on Kerrang channel the other night :D

Hmm, that is quite the conundrum...

Btw, get past all the plastic Macca business and his lapses into sentimentality and see the man for the genius he was.
