I'm looking for a satnav for my girlfriend, she'l be driving almost only in Ireland(only otherwise on holidays which is not a big deal).
I'm going to go with garmin and I want to know if there is one you can buy that updates routes automatically? Because the roads here are constantly changing(new motorways and whatnot) and I don't want her to be pulling onto a motorway and it telling her she's in a field!
If anyone could recommend one it would be great! Don't worry if you are not an expert, please post if you have one and your opinions on it.
    Thanks in advance

Stick with Garmin or TomTom . These update maps every few months.
Garmin does the offer of lifetime updates for a particular device
Tom Tom are currently offering annual map update sevice with 6 months extra free. TomTom also has the ability to correct maps your self & to shars others corrections via MapShare.
You can compare TomTom devices here

Halfords are selling a Garmin 1340 with Lifetime updates for 160 euro at the moment, the only other extra you need is the safety camera subscription at 23 euro per year, a UK and IRL sat nav is 115 in the same store and the lifetime map update is about 89 euro, or you can buy a Garmin 1340 on amazon for about 100 euro and again the map updates are 89 euro, so the Halfords price is very good.

The lifetime update means you get four map updates a year and the additional safety camera subscription will alert you when you are in speed camera areas, well worth the investment.
