    hello,

i read through the sticky first couldnt find what i was looking for.

I want to get a licnce for my fathers shot gun. I cant afford to buy a new gun and my father rarely uses his. is it possible to apply for licence on this gun? i went to local garda station and they were no help, to be honest i dont think they had a clue !

    is it possible?

yes its possible. you just get joint use of the firearm so both u and ur dad can use it. when filling out the firearms application form on page 4 its says source of firearm 3.3. your filling out part c of this and you will need you dads cert number.
then on page 5 where it says cert details fill 4.1 it states "if you will have joint use of this firearm, please provide the cert number of the other users"
    think that covers it :D

In country places the Gardaí nearly prefer it, 2x€80 yet only one shotgun.
