The spiders are of tarantula sized but the actual place is pretty small. They've got other lizards and stuff too.

It's mostly about the butterflies though.

The collection consists of swords, pistols and long-arms, mainly Irish and English weapons from the 16th to the 20th Centuries, along with some from Europe and the USA.

There is also a sizeable number non-Western muskets and swords collected in the 19th Century. The long-arms include flintlock, percussion and semi-automatic weapons. There are also a number of cannons. The edged weapons consist of swords, daggers, bayonets, pole-arms, some crossbows and clubs.

An exhibition of Iron Age bog bodies and related finds

Following the discoveries of Iron Age bog bodies at Oldcroghan, Co. Offaly and Clonycavan, Co. Meath in 2003, a team of international specialists worked with the Irish Antiquities Division and Conservation Department to examine these human remains. Kingship and Sacrifice gives an overview of the results of the analysis and, along with other bog bodies from Museum collections, offers an opportunity to literally come ‘face to face’ with the past.

The exhibition is based around the theory that human sacrifice and the deposition of the victims in bogs along tribal boundaries is related to sovereignty and kingship rituals during the Iron Age. Other related material displayed includes items of royal regalia, horse trappings, weapons, feasting utensils, boundary markers and votive deposits of butter known as bog butter.

Also included in the exhibition is a replica of a silver cauldron from a Danish bog. Known as the Gundestrup Cauldron, it shows images of Celtic deities as well as scenes of kingship and sovereignty ritual, including human sacrifice.

You need to spend 2 or 3 days around Merrion Sq/Kildare St to see the National Gallery, National Library, The Archeology Muesum and of course, the Dead Zoo (this is what we lovingly call the Natural History Museum where Rose works).

Trinity's right beside it too, so you can check that out on your way

Gallaghers is by far my favourite restaurant in Dublin, you need to book a table or end up waiting an hour though! Try the Murphy's Stew, SO much nicer than the Guinness one.

Also I don't think anyone has mentioned it but you should definitely visit St. James' Brewery and learn to pull a pint of guinness, also the tour is actually quite interesting.
