Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,

I'm looking to get into road biking as a form of exercise with the intention of part-taking in some endurance cycles (non-competitively).

As a starter, what would you guys make of this?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

It's grand although you could probably get better value with a less-well known brand name. Also, have you considered a road bike (with drop bars) since that would be more suitable for endurance cycling.

    Definitely get drops.

About 2 years ago I bought a hybrid despite everyone on here suggesting that drops were the way to go, it was only when i finally got a drop bar bike that I realised what i had been missing.

I'm so new to this thing, I don't even know what "drop bars" are.. :o

Not sure where to be looking either. The only bike shops I'm aware of are cycleogical and eurocycles.

    Proper newb at this thing

Drop bars are the ones you find on racing bikes which curve forwards and downwards allowing multiple natural feeling hand positions (for comfort) and the option of a more aerodynamic riding position (for speed).

Could I be so cheeky as to ask for a picture or a link? :)

Thanks very much! Any recommendations on where to purchase a bike? I live in Dublin but would be willing to travel to get a good deal.
