Shannon Development and The Conference and Sports Bureau are bidding for Limerick to be a host city for the Rugby league World Cup in 2013. They hope to have an Australia or Fiji game played in Thomond Park to a world wide television audience along with giving visitors and locals an opportunity to see first hand a world cup game played in Limerick.
