Texts to USA not legible

    Hi all. When I text my friend in the US, the text is received as boxes or symbols. This only started since I got a Nokia N8.

    Does anyone know if there is some setting I need to change to correct this problem?

    Go to Messaging -> Options(button) -> Settings -> Text Message -> Character Encoding.

    Switch to 'Reduced Support'.

    That could be a cause of the problem.

    I've heard that this can occasionally crop up with texts to non-GSM networks.

    If the person you are texting is on a CDMA network like Verizon or Sprint, then you might need to contact your operator and log a technical support error. It could be a problem with the gateway that they are using.

    The big GSM networks in the US are AT&T and T-Mobile.
