Roche himself said that Gadret did not want to do the tour. His team insisted.

Probably true but the official line is that Gadret had "earned" the choice to ride the tour if he wanted due to his performance at the Giro.

No doubt they heavily reccommed he ride but if he was knackered he should have resisted for the sake of the team.

Big effort by Tommy thats what the yellow does for you. He will be spent after today. Expect him to lose a bucket of time tomorrow having defended the jersey today.

He could lose a heap of time now.

spoke too soon obviously. Once the pace went up again he started to slide although he aint far off the group so could get back in.

    Come on Roche dig deep.

he's prob better off just getting to the finish at this stage instead of going into red to try and get back on. plenty of guys above him in GC are behind him on the road and plenty of mountains to come!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

He could pull it back yet but he is looking tired.
Still 7k left so there's time yet.

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,602 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

He's still fighting hard and it flattens out a little soon, 3 of the team together off back now, hopefully they can work together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,022 ✭✭✭John.Icy

Roche has Dupont and Riblon trying to get back..around 20m or less....

plan at this stage should be to lose under a minute to be fair.

andy having a good look at contador.. could be an attack coming in the last few km

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,022 ✭✭✭John.Icy

Peraud will probably take over the main man at AG2R now, even if he doesn't surpass Roche in the overall day, he probably will soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

great work by the 2 front lads to put up the gap. Cant see anyone catching them now so they are set up for a stage win.

    Roche looks bollixed.

5k up a Hors climb is a long way. I wouldnt expect anything right now. One thing that is unlikely is that hes in condition for a top 10 GC finish.

Yeah, this is true. Just knock out the best he can.

    And here's the attack. :)

Surprised Frank has been let go away so easily!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,452 ✭✭✭SomeFool

I don't think that's right. Gadret wouldn't have to "earn" a place on the TDF team.

"He hadn't originally planned to ride both the Giro and the Tour, as he would not have had enough time in between to recover, but the team persuaded him to make the most of his good form and both he and Hubert Dupont, who finished 12th in the Giro, were added to the roster at the last minute."

I didnt say he "earned the place" i said "earned the choice" as in he could pick if he wanted to go or not without the team pushing him one way or the other.

anyway its moot now. Even a fresh Gadret wouldnt save Nico today :(

T V looks like he is gone here after that break by Evans.

What you said doesn't really matter. Roche says Gadret didn't want to do it but his team persuaded him. When your employer tells you do to something you usually do it (except give a wheel).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,022 ✭✭✭John.Icy

The countdown to Roche begins! Hope it's less than 3 minutes.

    Contador really suffering there.
