Although I'm not in a position to run any of the distances I would love to come along on the day to support a great cause and the memory of a great boardsie. Just wondering if there is anything I can do to help other than standing on the sidelines and shout encouragement at people?

I'm sure you could help aid the watersations etc...Myself I am down for the 30 miler but the legs are in bits and I don't think they need anymore marathons or ultras this year, but I'll still come down and run about 15miles and help out the others any way I can.

Can't decide between the ultra and the marathon. The ultra beckons but I'd be trashed for a month when I really want to get back training properly. The important thing is just to be there..

Give me a shout if anyone needs a lift down to this from Dublin or wants to carpool. I'll be aiming to get down for the marathon start at midday, so maybe leaving the red cow at 9ish...

Great turnout. About 60 runners out over all the races. TFBubendorfer has just crossed to win the 30 miler in 3:40. Mick rice is about to win the marathon. Oisin11178 and aimman have just a few laps left to complete the double marathon.

Puts most big races to shame TBH, for €20-30 you had 3 distance options from Marathon to Double marathon. Bananas, sweets, chocolate bars, water, coke and energy drinks were available every mile. Course was marshalled at all points and the road closed off. Tea, coffee, sandwhiches, cakes crips etc were available after the race along with free massages, and get this: all the money raised went to charity. Not a single thing provided by the organisers cost you a penny.

I Have to say I felt so bad at the small price they charge that I had to make an extra donation to the charity after the race to make up what it should have cost.

Have to say it was great. Big thank you to the stewards on the course. They were full of energy and keep me going when I needed it which was most of the second half lol. I shouldn't have really run today but glad I did. Great spread on after and fee massage which I badly needed. I.ll be back next year.
I.m sure Eddie is proud looking down today.

What makes running truly enjoyable is to participate in events like this, I have come away from Sixmilebrigde today with my faith human beings restored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭diddleyland

had a great day in the bridge, the stewards were absolutly amazing i dont know where they got their energy from but i looked forward to meeting each one at the different points along the route.... it was a very slow affair for me today but i got there in the end and delighted with myself for my achievement... Magnificantly organised better than a lot of the big events the organisers can be damn proud of this event :):D:D:D

had a ball. The sneering started at 9am and didnt stop for the day. We got 2nd 3rd an4th in the car so yours truly got 4th.
mars bars twirls other bars scones jellies. Great value and i will be in early nxy year cos this will fill up very quickly.

What a fantastic event! Superb organisation, great volunteers, friendly runners, a great spread at the end, massage, shower facilities and all that for such a small fee, I agree with meno, I basically feel guilty for how little I paid for all that.

Times and placings were not the most important thing today, but I got a thrill out of it nevertheless. My race report is here, for anyone who's interested,

well done runningcoach and all your crew. This was a fantastic event. I agree with the previous comments that the stewards, refreshments, physicsl therapy were all excellent but would like to add a thank you to Tom, the attention to detail in your organisation was second to none. This event was run as professionally as any big city marathon and I hope you're waking up a very proud man this morning!

My own race was less than stellar. For me it was one of those days to be out there enjoying a run with friends rather than performing (although being lapped every 3rd lap by Mick RIce is an embarassment that may spur me on to improvements soon!). I DNF'ed in 6MB last year so it was great to be back to deal with unfinished business!

    See you all next year?

Would have to agree with all the previous comments. Fantastic day. Everything was organised superbly and the support on the course was fantastic. Will definitely be back next yr. Thanks to Tom,Deirdre and everyone who helped out on the day to make this an excellent event.

    +1 to all the above.
Take a bow,Tom and crew.I've given races 5 stars in the past, which in light of yesterday's event, i probably shouldnt have.Well done.Credit for the weather on the day, though, that'll have to go elsewhere.

On behalf of the organising team I just want to say a massive thanks for your support and spirit you brought to the races yesterday. Your presence honoured Eddie big time.

Your kind words and feedback have us walking ten feet high today and will drive us to make next year better.

Congrats to Eamonn Dargan - winner of a free entry to the Donadea 50k. I think it's only fitting Eamon should get it after speaking so well (at 1 minutes notice!) about his mate Eddie at the presentation and not too mention how he ran the whole 52 miles with a smile on his face ! A very worthy first year winner of the spirit of Eddie award.

Ah brilliant. Perfect end to a great race. It was the whole organisation and support that kept me smiling. The fact that it's on a one mile loop is a gem, because you get to see people more regularly (granted, the majority of them were the ones passing me by) along with the stewards and supporters. You were guaranteed a bit of craic along the route and looked forward to the banter, especially with the comentator going around the mats. Also had good banter with the locals who were out walking around.

I was there at 6:30 in the morning, watching the Marquee being put together and gobsmacked when I went into it after the race to see everyone in there with a great range of food and four?? yes FOUR massage tables. It was the 6MB version of the Tardis, brilliant. Still smiling. You have to have this again next year!
