I would like to take the time to thank the brave Irish people who stood against what is happening in Bahrain... especially the Irish delegation that is in Bahrain right now to free the 47 arrested doctors.

Thank you all from Bahrain for you courage and humanity.

I would especially like to thank the doctors and the diplomats who are in Bahrain right now, and forgive me If I forgot their names.

    • Dr. Damian McCormack
    • MEP Marian Harkin,
    • Averil Power
    • David Andrews
    • Eamon Gilmore
    • Andrew Anderson
    • Prof Eoin O’Brien

You all great and decent people .... and that's the nature of the Irish people who don't condone injustice and oppression.

God bless Ireland and the Irish people.

Thank you and your comrades for showing the courage to stand up to totalitatrian dictatorships in your country. I, and i'm sure everyone else here wishes you well in yuor quest for political freedoms...:)

However I am angry to see our Royal College of Surgeons refuse to condemn the treatment of doctors, who trained here in Ireland, arrested and charged by the regime in Bahrain...

Cool, when your done, come over here and teach us what it takes to stand up in our own country instead of running over to yours.

You belittle the problems faced by people living under a totalitarian regime to compare our situation with theirs. We have a vote and can influence political policy. Most people choose NOT to engage in our political process beyond voting once every few years.

No, I fully agree there is no comparison between their problems and ours, and am fully enamored with the Arab revolution.

I'm simply making the point that we seem to be better taking on challenges outside the state then facing up to our own demons here. Irish goodwill and philanthropic actions abroad are a strong positive in my book, it just is beyond me that we don't practice the same principles in our own back yard.

Fair enough. It seems I mis-interpreted your post. Sorry about that :)

Yeah, the RCSI, should have spoken up... this is a precedent in the history of medicine, I mean doctors are tried for treating the injured.. That totally violate medical neutrality. Although, it's not too late, the least they can do issue a statement condemning the act of the Alkhlaifa regime.

Anyway, thanks to Prof. Damian McCormack, he spoke up clearly and frankly about that issue. Others tried to pretend they didn't know!

Couldn't have said it better; Paddy again interfering in other countries issues.
I wish we had some of that enthusiasm, compassion, dedication and commitment here.

No way, I am not in a position to teach the Irish people how to stand up for their rights, I am sure that Ireland is full of brave men and women, it is Ireland the land of the free. Believe me, the Irish delegation was vital for us (Bahraini people), I mean, those 47 doctors were forgotten for months by the rest of the world and no body seemed to care about them, thanks to those brave Irish who spoke up, the media paid attention.

What else could I be? :)
Yeah, I am Bahraini citizen who liked thank the Irish people who cared while they were thousands miles away, while the US Navy fifth fleet watched their weapons used like this and pretended they didn't see anything wrong!

    47 doctors over there?

No wonder there are operations being cancelled here all the time. All the doctors are in Bahrain.

    No, 47 of us :D

I think the Irish delegation is around 6-11, some of them diplomats and MPs

I mean 47 doctors and nurses that are held in custody by the regime, some of them already tried and sentenced, a friend of mine (male nurse) was sentenced for 3 years imprisonment recently.
