Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For anyone out Clare direction, the Burren Brewery at the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna is having its grand opening on Sunday week, July 24th, at 3pm. There'll be live music.

    More about the brewery here.

Wow another new one and this in a Country where 90% of people (at least) buy only the usual bog-standard, bland TV advertised beers. Amazing.

If we ever get the figure that low, or even close, we've won.

surely way over 10% of people buy the cheapest stuff available: Dutch Gold, Hackenberg, Karpackie, which you'll never see on TV.

Fairplay to him, at least he's actually doing something to tackle the dwindling trade, and not moaning about it. Hope it works out for him.

Alright then I should have just said mass produced, bland beers, TV advertised or not, I was trying to make a distinction between the muck the masses are happy with and proper beer with a flavor.

I visited the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna today. Well, I knocked until they let me in. :D

I tried each of their craft beers.

    Burren Gold
    Burren Red
    Burren Black

I preferred the Burren Gold which is their Lager offering. It was crisp and refreshing. Very well put together.

The Burren red was a very nice ale. Nice and Smokey.

The Burren Black / Stout was pleasnt. Frankly I'm not big on stouts so cannot pass to much information on it other than it was pleasant.

I wish them best of luck on Sunday.

BTW Peter is a charachter. He even so far as giving me a "gift". He gave me a beermat coined in 1996 by Guinness which has artwork on one side with the names of the Burren Smokehouse and The Roadside Tavern. :)
