Ollie Cahill, League of Ireland footballer - FAI player of the year in 2006. Holder of the record for most appearances in European competition by an Irish domestic player. 41 games - Deportivo La Coruna, Steaua Bucharest, Dynamo Kiev, this man's played 'em all ;)

Infamous more than famous perhaps, Michael Smith and Michael O'Kennedy, two Tipp men who sat at the same cabinet table and had a fierce rivalry within their own constituency.

Spot on there. Played for Cork City with a fellow Clonmellian Stephen Napier. Cant help thinking Ollie didnt go far enough in his career as he was a terrific winger and didnt look out of place in the European games you mentioned.

I'll take that! Well it was his official royal seat after all. So the Tipp connection is valid!!

Apologies for going off topic (but this is an urgent request :D:D:D)

Mikemac - could you arrange for a few Tipp flags and some bunting to be sent down to Ballina as soon as possible please? I'm here in Killaloe and it is depressing looking over the water to Ballina. Are the Ballina people still part of Tipp? There is no excitement about the All Ireland at all :(

Anyway, this proud Clare woman is lending Tipp her support tomorrow, as our lads are a bit like Fianna Fail, they are still rebuilding :D

He ruled from the original capital of Ireland - Killaloe, Co. Clare, put that in your pipe Mikemac ;):D

Well Kincora if want to be precise ;)
    He's one of our anyway

As for Ballina, I remember hurling there as a young lad and it was just a village.
    No comparison these days
A lot of them commuters from Limerick I'd say so that explains the lack of flags

As for FF, sure Clare is Dev country :)
Well it used to be anyway

Hey, if you can arrange for some flags and bunting to be put up in Ballina, I'll take you to the Brian Boru Centre in Killaloe. Just think about how exciting it would be crossing over the bridge. For someone like you, I might even ask for a Garda escort ;)

I think Brackens son may have become an advisor to Winston Churchill in later years

It's a sad day when an exiled Dublin living in Tipp needs to remind you Tipperary lot about : Louise Kennedy, the world famous designer, is from Thurles!:D

(incidentally I always considered Sean kelly as a Tipp man but knowing the man reasonably well, he actually told me that his mother was from Kilkenny. A bit od useless info).

Pretty certain Louise Kennedy is from Puckane.

In alot of instances tho, people from smaller areas are often 'rounded off' to be from the nearest biggest Geographical area if you like. Granted Puckane is nearer to Nenagh but if Louise Kennedy started out her business in Thurles then the media would know her as being 'Thurles born'.

Shane Long was referred to as being from Tipperary town by George Hamilton by simple virtue of the fact he was playing for St Michaels.
