Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Classic Bike Insurance

Hi there - can anyone recommend a good classic insurer?
I've just bought a 1980 Superdream (ok ok so in some people would argue its classic status!).
This is my only transport too, usually on a pushbike these days!
Limited mileage policy would be ideal, <5000 say.
Any brokers that do this sort of thing?

Cheers folks, can't wait to get back on (motorised) 2-wheels!
I do think I'll be missing the power of my old Ducati though :(

Carole Nash offer classic bike insurance but beware, when I asked they told me you don't earn NCB on their classic policies so if it's your only bike policy your NCB could expire without you realising.

I got my '88 insured with Adelaide.
AFAIK I am earning a bike NCB same as any other policy.

I've had a classic policy with Carole Nash for the last 6 years (classic is defined as 15 years or older - I'm on a '91 Bros). I now have a 6 year NCB statement so I don't believe the previous post to be correct...

It could be down to how you classify it's use. My policy with CN states:
"Social, domestic and pleasure purposes including use for travelling (sic) to and from a permanent place of work."

If the bike was only to be used on the very rare occasion (in other words, it's primarily a display model now) then perhaps that could affect it? I suppose in the strictest sense, that's what classic insurance is for.

Every policy seems to be different, I only posted the information I was given by the company themselves when I posed the question as something to check for, never assume anything with insurance.

Just if anyone is interested (I'm sure it's in a sticky somewhere anyway):

Aon 400 Fully comp, didn't ask about bike age.
Adelaide started at 660, came down to 297 when I mentioend that they weren't even at the races, fully comp, didn't care about bike age.
CN: They were all too busy to speak to me, but would call me back. Yesterday. They must have too much business ;)
Quinn: Wouldn't cover anything past 1986 (I guess 25 years is their max bike age)
