    I'd love to be in a musical. Where can I found out about auditions for any upcoming productions for amateurs in Dublin?

    Keep an eye on www.aims.ie It's the association of Irish musical societies. Most societies advertise open nights and auditions on there.

    The societies listed on aims are all amateur (afaik anyway) and auditions are always open to anyone.

    They are amateur but not all auditions are open. Society policies vary greatly according to their membership base. They tend to break down as follows:
    • open to all
    • open to new men only (when the society already has a large number of female members)
    • open but you have to be a member to audition (but you can pay your membership on the day)
    • open for certain parts only, others have been cast within the society

    Most societies prefer to cast from within rather than give parts to people passing through with a view to building up the society. If you're interested i joining a society let them know that you want to stay around...it can work in your favour ;)
